[HEX Easy]Renaming things in hex workshop 2.5.4.0**PICS**

Post by finalbout100000 »

Mainly im doing this for people without the newer version of Hex Workshop(like me). Also, I've seen some of the Hex tutorials of renaming halo objects and they were all for the newer version.
So here it is.
1.Open up a map in hex workshop[my example is wizard]
Image
2.Go to Edit/Find(or press Alt+F3)
Image
3.Make your find box look like mine by changing value to ASCII, Options to Unicode, and Direction to Down.
Image
4.Next, we have to search for something! lets search for the Assault Rifle for now. So in the Find What Box Type in withOUT the quotation marks "assault rifle"
Image
5. After that being done, it should highlight over the word "assault rifle"(no quotes). To unhighlight just click next to it.
Image
[ :!: --Note-- :!: ]Do not mess with the .'s that are all over the place. for instance, in Hex, the assault rifle says P.i.c.k.e.d. .u.p. .a.n. .a.s.s.a.u.l.t. .r.i.f.l.e......
If you mess with any of the dots in there it might end up saying something like this "pkd up a slt rfle" so dont mess with them! We are going to rename our assault rifle to battle rifle. so instead of making it say battle rifle in hex it will look like b.a.t.t.l.e. .r.i.f.l.e got it?
[ :!: --Note(again)-- :!: You cannot rename ur weapon so that it is longer than the original, this means that .p.i.s.t.o.l. cannot be renamed .f.l.a.m.e.t.h.r.o.w.e.r.
6. Now rename .a.s.s.a.u.l.t. so it should look like .b.a.t.t.l.e.l.t.
Image
7.There we have to space out the L so it should look like .b.a.t.t.l.e. .t. .r.i.f.l.e.
Then, at the T start typing in rifle so it should look like .b.a.t.t.l.e. .r.i.f.l.e.l.e.
8. There just space out the L and the E so the final version should look like P.i.c.k.e.d. .u.p. .a. .b.a.t.t.l.e. .r.i.f.l.e. . ........
Image
9. under that you should see .p.i.c.k.e.d. .u.p. .%.d. .r.o.u.n.d.s. .f.o.r. .a.s.s.a.u.l.t. .r.i.f.l.e...
10. From the steps above you should now know to change it to .p.i.c.k.e.d. .u.p. .%.d. .r.o.u.n.d.s. .f.o.r. .b.a.t.t.l.e. .r.i.f.l.e.e...
11. then just change that end E so it looks like .%.d. .r.o.u.n.d.s. .f.o.r. .b.a.t.t.l.e. .r.i.f.l.e. ....
Image
12. after that go to file/save and when the prompt asks you to back up the file(wizard.bak) say no cuz i think its easier just to already have gone in there and made a backup for ur wizard.
Image

Well that is all now go ingame and test it out!
No i will not post an ingame cuz im too lazy to right now, but if you have any questions or need me to clarify anything just PM me or reply a post here.
Thank you,
