HMT- Make a golden cheif tutorial..... without photoshop

Post by somepoo »

This is a tutorial on how to make a golden "pimp" cheif in just about twenty seconds without photoshop and all the advanced stuff. :D Its actually very simple and easy to do.

1) open up HMT 3.5
2) open the map you would like to make this change in...
3) find '[bitm]bitmap and click the plus sign
4) near the top, there is something called
characters\cyborg\bitmaps\cyborg reflection armor
open that and go to save texture
5)just above that there is a bitmap listed
characters\cyborg\bitmaps\cubemap mirror surface
open that and click save texture
6)now go back to
characters\cyborg\bitmaps\cyborg reflection armor
and click on inject texture.
7) from there choose
cubemap mirror surface1.dds.1
or whatever u named it and press enter
8) yay! now u have golden masta' cheif
* note: might change for all maps, to change just take the reflection armor bitmap and inject it back into the injection armor slot or whatever you want to call it.
9)*****for best results make your spartan black when you start the game next
10) testing making other things pure gold too, if people are interested in this one, i will post more.....

Cool! How would you make him black? That would be good for a stealth mod.
Your sig can't exceed 500x120 in size.

Black master cheif

Post by ochenator »

O.K. so this is the same guy who posted the tut. My profile got all screwy so i made a new one...anyways.

So, for the black master cheif you could just try and find a black bitmap thats dxt1. (Just make sure its not completely black!) Then inject that bitmap into the reflection bitmap or whatever its called.
...
but id stick with photoshop for making him completely black.

Hey, if you can make him gold by just injecting the bitmap of his visor.....

Could you inject the cryotube bitmap in his visor and armor to make him completely invisible? (unlike active camo, where you can kinda see someone)

Then he would be invisible ALL the time, and why would you want to be completely invisible with camo? Think about how hard that would be if someone else had camo and was trying to kill you.

That would be the idea. Being completely invisible all the time (not like the camo's limited invisibility) would make for a much more interesting game. You'd have to rely on much more than sight to kill your enemies. Plus you wouldn't need camo if you were completely invisible. You could replace it with an overshield, or change it in HMT to double speed if you like. Imagine playing all snipers. That'd be a real challenge.

That's not what I meant. The camo is slightly visible for a reason...

its because bungie decided that the elites that had camo would be to hard so they changed it so that the camo dosn't work fast enough and looks weird when you move the best idea is to stay still and shoot people and then the only way they can see you is the bullet trails

Actually, they are still slightly visible with active camo because they still need light to get to their eyes. If they were totally invisible with all the light bending around them, they would ultimately be blind. Anyways, nice tut. :)

u could also do that completely invisible thing, but leave the visor the same, so its like floaty gold things
also with HMT3.5 u can just copy the Meta code for the characters\cyborg\bitmaps\cubemap mirror surface from the tag information & paste it in the same place for the characters\cyborg\bitmaps\cyborg reflection armor

Doesnt; really matter whether or not hes totally invisable. If it were all snipers you could turn on your night vision and easily see him. But im down with the sweet idea of making total invisablity. Hey try to find a bitmap of him wearing camo. Add the camo ablity to the reg skin of him all invisable. Play it as an SP and walk right through.
