PC-easy Rebuild Sidewinder...say what???

Rebuilding Sidewinder for PC by fishface617
(this might have been done before but i figured this out myself)

ok, so you want to rebuild Sidewinder for PC...you've saved, extracted, de-crapped, built a new bsp chunk, added 50 meta files to rebuild and then what??? oh noes!~! a missing dependency!!?!?!...from Icefeilds?!?!?

well dont worry, all you have to do is:

(NOTE: this can be done right after you batch extract and begin you mod, or right before you rebuild, or anytime in between.)

1) batch extract sidewinder
2) go to levels>test>icefeilds>scenery>mp_tree_pine_snow_tall
3) in there you should see 3 xml files, i believe its the coll.meta, mod2.meta and scen.meta. of the tree
4) well anyways open the 1st one in notepad and look for the dependency(s) with two slashes "\\" now where ever you see "\\" just delete one of them so only "\" is left.
5) do the same thing in the remaining two xml files
6) now go ahead and continue to pmi, you do not need to rebuild with any extra pine trees or anything.

the reason why this happens is because HMT just batch extracts those files with some extra slashes, all you need to do is delete the extra ones

hope this helps and happy modding to those stuck with this in the past :D

[edit]...ok i talked to Shout, and he said the extra slashes were not in the xml files. so i decided to go along and make a picutre tutorial...so i batch extracted sidewinder and went to those xml files so see if the slashes were there...and they werent. but when i figured this out yesterday, there were extra slashes in the xml code that blocked the path. so i guess this tutorial only works if you get the dependency error referring to the tree which i got yesterday...and today no slashes and sucessful rebuild. weird huh?

but i can assure you that if you get that error all you have to do is delete the extra slashes and you can pmi as normal.

[edit 2]....ummm maybe it was a backslash....

<_<

>_>

ill fix it......

I've gotten this problem before, so I thought I might give this a try, but it didn't work. The '//' you're talking about doesn't exist in the code, and I still get the error. Could you possibly help?

:Edit: I forgot only staff can post here, but I always check my pm's, and I'm always on im. (Not yahoo much though)

:Edit2:Oh, I did however see something like '\\'. Maybe you were confused?
