Getting Pictures For Your Mod

Why you should do this:
  • You will avoid the: "ZOMG get pics nubbercake!"
  • It makes your post look more professional.
  • You will get a 70% increase in user downloads with pictures.
    • It shows users the mod actually works.
    • They actually have something to look at and want.
  • You will get a 90% increase in user comments.
    • People will actually have something to post about.
    • People who don't download the mod can still compliment you.
Requirements:
  • You must have Halo 2 in "E:\Games"
  • You must already know how to FTP
  • You can be a nub, but you can't be a complete idiot

Getting the pictures:
  • Step 1: Getting the Files
    • Get Yelo
      • Download here
      • Create a new folder, then unzip the Yelo files to it
    • Get Xored ETM Trainer Launcher 2.2
      • Download here
      • Unzip the folder
    Step 2: Fixing Xored
    • Open the "Xored.ini" file in Notepad
    • Find these line of code:

    Code: Select all

    # 1 trainer path only
    Trainers_Path = "C:\Trainers"
    #Trainers_Path = "C:\Trainers"
    • Replace it with this:

    Code: Select all

    # 1 trainer path only
    Trainers_Path = "E:\Apps\mini\Trainers"
    #Trainers_Path = "E:\Apps\mini\Trainers"
    • Save and exit
      Image
Step 3: Installing the Files to Your Xbox
    • FTP to your Xbox
    • Go to E:\Apps\
      • Transfer over the "mini" folder you unzipped
    • Go to E:\Apps\mini\Trainers
      • Transfer over all the files from the Yelo download you unzipped
    • Go to E:\TDATA\4D530064\
      • Transfer "config v1.5.inc" to this folder.
      Image
Step 4: Fixing the Auto Update
    • FTP to your Xbox
    • Go to E:\TDATA\4D530064\
    • Rename the "$c" and "$u" folders to "z$c" and "z$u"
    • When you want to play the new maps again rename the folders back to how you had them.
      Image
    Step 5: Taking the Pictures
    • Turn on/Reboot your Xbox
    • Start Halo 2 with Yelo:
      • Go to "Applications" (depending on dashboard)
      • Go to "Xored Trainer Launcher"
      • Go to "Halo 2"
      • Go to "Yelo"
      • Make sure "Developers Mode" is enabled (I wouldn't suggest having to many other options enabled at once)
      • Press the "Start" button
    • Load your modded map
    • Use these controls to get to a good spot for a picture:

      Code: Select all

          dpad-up = increase cam speed
          dpad-down = decrease cam speed
          dpad-left = decrease look speed

lthumb+dpad-right = decrease horizontal look shift
          lthumb+black = disable cinematic mode
          lthumb+white = enable cinematic mode
          lthumb+back = stillcam
rthumb+dpad-up = decrease camera depth (move forward)
rthumb+dpad-down = increase camera depth (move back)
rthumb+dpad-left = increase fov (zoom out)
rthumb+dpad-right = decrease fov (zoom in)
rthumb+A = save camera state (shifts, fov, and depth)
rthumb+B = load camera state (shifts, fov, and depth)
          rthumb+X = save gamestate
          rthumb+Y = load gamestate
          rthumb+back = cutscene cam
          back+dpad-up = first person perspective
          back+dpad-down = third person perspective
          back+dpad-left = chasecam perspective
          back+dpad-right = devcam perspective

          black+dpad-down = decrease z cam shift
          black+dpad-left = decrease y cam shift
          black+dpad-right = increase y cam shift
          white+dpad-down = auto hires grabber
          white+dpad-left = vidcap
          white+dpad-right = 360 degree shot
          white+back = screenshot

          while in devcam...
rtrigger = move up along z axis
ltrigger = move down along z axis
          A+dpad-up = letterbox toggle
          A+dpad-down = wireframe
          A+dpad-left = hud toggle
          A+dpad-right = ai toggle
A+black = decrease ambient light brightness
A+white = increase ambient light brightness
B+dpad-up = teleport to current camera coordinates
          B+dpad-left = decrease gamespeed
          B+dpad-right = increase gamespeed
X+dpad-up = secondary light vertical increase
X+dpad-down = secondary light vertical decrease
X+dpad-left = secondary light horizontal decrease
X+dpad-right = secondary light horizontal increase
X+black = decrease secondary light brightness
X+white = increase secondary light brightness
Y+dpad-up = primary light vertical increase
Y+dpad-down = primary light vertical decrease
Y+dpad-left = primary light horizontal decrease
Y+dpad-right = primary light horizontal increase
Y+black = decrease primary light brightness
Y+white = increase primary light brightness
    • REMEMBER. You have to only have one controller plugged in for Yelo to function correctly.
    • After you have found a good picture position, press the white and back button at the same time to take a picture. You can pretty much take unlimited pictures.
    • Take about 20-30 good pictures. We will filter out the bad ones later.
    Step 6: Getting the Pictures
    • Set up your xbox for FTP
    • Download Xbox Raw Screenshot Deswizzler (By Detox, my bestest friend =)
    • Copy the pictures on your xbox to your computer:
      • Click the "Settings" tab
      • Make sure the username and password are both "xbox"
      • Enter your Xbox IP address
      • Go to "File"
      • Go to "Connect"
      • Cylce through all the pictures, check the ones you want to keep
      • Then go to "File"
      • Go to "Save Checked As"
      • Save the pictures to your desired folder
      Image

You know, if you actually expand that sentence out, it'll say "File Transfer Protocol to your Xbox". Doesn't really make sense eh :P ..other than that, very nice tutorial Image

Why are you assuming the stock HDD does not have enough space to store small little image files?..

Ah I see where your coming from now. Well, your right, halo2 doesn't fit completely on a stock HDD. So that's why we here only put maps on the HDD that we're going to play (excluding the mainmenu, shared and/or spshared maps that is, as they have to be there).

That way there's still loads of space left on the HDD, well, relatively anyway..

I have a v1.0 xbox with a stock hardrive. I can fit the AI revision and my modded halo 2 and have 800MB left over. (No singleplayer or bink things on it.)

Great tut though!

Ah I guess it can all fit then. Thinking about it I had the DLC installed as well as a million other gamesaves from different games.

..and Senor_Grunt, more detail please >_>

I'm not positive, but they usually track your eeprom with the serial number of your xbox hard drive from what I've heard, so you might get banned from xbl if you go on with a different hard drive and same eeprom, you'll most likely get banned. If you've never signed on to live with that eeprom before, then you should be fine.

Yeah, it'll only ban that specific xbox if it signs in with a different hard drive than it originally had. Even if you got the xbox banned, you could migrate your account to the 360, because they don't ban accounts.
