First off, you'll need these tools:

Microsoft .NET Framework

Tool to open Zipped Folders:
WinRar
(Select the one in the red.)
Image

Tool to FTP:
SmartFTP
(I recommend the one highlighted in red.)
Image

PPF Patchers:
SPPF, Serentiy, PPF-O-MATIC.
(To open these, you must have downloaded WinRar and have it installed.)

Websites to download a Halo 2 Mod:
HaloPatch, Halo Mods.

Burning Halo 2 to the Hard Drive

If your xbox supports it...
  • Start up your xbox with your softmod on.

    Insert your Halo 2 Disk.

Go into System and select "Copy Game to Hard Drive"

This will may differ if you have an EvoX dashboard.
If your xbox does not support "Copy Game to Hard Drive" then...
  • Start your xbox with your softmod on.

    Insert Halo 2 Disk.

    Go into your File Explorer.

    Go into your D:\ Drive.

You are now in your Halo 2 Disk.

Now, on the other side of the file explorer, it shows you all your drives, select that menu by pressing R or L.

Travel to your main drive (Drive with the most space.)

Make a new folder named "Games".

Go into your your "Games" folder and make a new folder called "Halo2".

Go back to the menu on the left.

    Select all the files.

Now bring up the option menu (Start, White Button, Black Button, etc.)

Select "Copy" and then let it copy the game to your Hard Drive.
If you would like to free up some space...
  • Delete all the files in the "bink" folder.

Delete all the Single Player maps.

How to FTP:

To FTP with an Unleash X Dashboard:
  • Go to your System.

    Select "Network"

Set Type to DHCP (for some, you can set it to Static)

    Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0

Set DNS 1+2 to either your DNS's or 0.0.0.0
To FTP with an EvoX Dashboard:
  • Go to System.

    Select "Network"

    Set Type to Static

    Set IP to 192.168.*.*

    Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0

Set DNS 1+2 to either your DNS's or 0.0.0.0

*(Whatever you want other then 1, 100-132)
Turn on your xbox, find out what you're IP is, and then open up SmartFTP on your computer, type in where it says address put the xbox's IP. For Username and Password put xbox. Set the port to 21.

Wait a second and it will connect and you will see the drives on your xbox.

(When using PPF-O-MATIC, make sure you select "All Files" so that it will show you .map's.)

After applying the patch to the patch...

Play the map by...

1. Theres already a tutorial on how to apply patched at the top of the page.

2. You don't need any application to ftp over to your xbox. Its a whole lot faster to just use the my computer button and type in your ip address.

3. Its the thought that mattered, but this tut was really just a waste of time.

no. go away... this is relevant. he probably enjoyed writing it. who cares if its been done before. the world is all a bunch of copy cats. everything has been done before. this is a more complete n00b tutorial. If I see another stupid non-relating comment anywhere I'm making a special 'hate' project... KthxBai

I made my tutorial topics at my old Halo Modding website (Which unfortunately, came to the end of its rope :(.)

I needed a new place to host them so friends and newbies could come to view them so I thought, "Why not at HaloMods!".

I did see the other topic, but I used to be a noob when it came to PPF's, and let me tell you, I probably would not have been able to understand the last one (I'm a visual/hands-on learner.)

Plus, who doesn't like pictures? :D!

Just enjoy the topic, I don't need anyone to post in it, I just hope some newbie will one day find this and use it to advance in Halo Modding ^_^.
But comments would be nice xD

Sorry if this is considered a bump... But even for the multiplayer maps, it says I don't have enough room on the XBOX to duplicate them. What should I do?

EDIT: And whenever I try to FTP it always just gives up after being connected for around 10 seconds.

Sorry >_<

Make a new folder Called Halo2

Copy the folders "bink", and "media" and the file "default.xbe" into there.

Make a new folder inside Halo2 called "maps"

Go into your Halo 2 Disk and Copy all Multiplayer maps (Including Shared.map and SinglePlayerShared.map) into that folder.

That's it =P, that problem isn't new, people put apps and other things on their Xbox before doing something like this so their hard drives aren't big enough to hold all of Halo 2.

I don't know if it's a bump or not but I'm happy to help ^_^

And the FTP problem, it may be something in your Network Settings for the Xbox, like on the IRC channel Xbins, if you haven't done anything (you're idle) for a certain amount of time, you get disconnected.

Thanks! I fixed it. =D

EDIT: What about the mainmenu.map? I try to copy it and it gives me another error, but everything else is fine.

Well, the only problem there could be to my knowledge is that your hard drive is full or the map is corrupted.

Most likely it's full, if there are any files on your Xbox you don't use anymore get rid of those.

May you tell me the error details if this doesn't work. Thanks ;D.

Oh, and so this doesn't become considered as a bump, PM me about your problems from now on ;D

Just spread it around, let other newbies have a look at it and what-not, hopefully it'll get stickied or something ;)
