[Halo 2] - Making Normal Lights Render Real Time Shadows

Post by ScottyGEE »

Ok here we go.

What you'll need:
ADI. (Preferably Lastest Version)
Hexworkshop.
Knowledge.
30 seconds of free time.

1) First up open up ADI and your desired map. In this tutorial I opened up Coagulation.

2) Now then, in this tutorial, we are going to make the warthog's headlights render real time shadows. So scroll down to the ligh tag area, expand it and scroll down to warthog_headlights.ligh

3) Now click on the the second button to the left on the bottom right hand panel in ADI...This is the meta extracter & injecter.

4) Save this to an easy to remember location...I made it my halo2 directory (Nicley displayed by the ch2r logo ;))

5) Now we open up hexworkshop and then we open up the warthog_headlights[ligh].meta NOT warthog_lights[ligh].meta.data

6) You'll see a whole lot of gobbly gook (Thats what I would call it)

7) Now Paste the following over the first 4 letters on the hex side of the window:

Code: Select all

1039

8) Save and make a backup if you wish

9) Go back to ADI and inject the meta back over the warthog_headlights.ligh

10) Recalculate the checksum, FTP and try out your sexy new lighting (Provided youve enabled warthog headlights which I assume you have done)

11) Enjoy

This method works on most if not all lighting tags in halo2 and is featured in my "Forgotten Hope" mod released at the halo2 downloads forum. As you can see its on the warthog and the battle rifle.
