Just so everyone knows...there is a stickied thread for help. This is for the tutorial, not help on the tutorial. So, to keep help topics from being split too much, why doesn't everyone just use the other topic. That way, if somebody has the same problem as another person and somebody finds a solution to the problem, it can be found easily under one forum instead of 2 different forums.

Re: [ CougAr's Idiot Proof Larger BSP Conversion Guide ]
Im just curious why u want the ltmp and bsp decompiled, then decompiled recursivly??JackonCougAr wrote: Step 13.) Go to Meta --> Decompile.

Step 15.) Go to the LTMP tag and click on the lightmap that corresponds to the BSP you decompiled.

Step 14.) Go to Meta --> Decompile Recursive.
In Anthony's tut for this, he doesnt do that.
Edit: Ive done it Anthony's way many, many times, and it works everytime. I tried your way, with the double decompile, and i get errors during the rebuild.

how long is the does it normaly take to rebuild the map because I waited almost 4 hours and thought something went worng so I redid everything and left the computer on overnight and when I woke up the next morning it still wasn't done?
maybe It's because my computer is 5 years old and only has 512mb of ram

It should look more like this -
Go to Meta --> Decompile --> Decompile Recursive
^that way it doesnt confuse people^.
Other that that, nice tut.
Oh, and btw, I CAN DO BSP CONVERSIONS NOW! So, I will be releasing some soon.
EDIT: Fergie, you must be doing something wrong, because look at my sig. With 250mb free of RAM and a 2.8 ghz processor, it only takes about 30 minutes to decompile both maps, use H2G, rebuild, and move spawns. (And moving spawns takes the longest because the bsp viewer uses up so much RAM.)

Maybe it's my laptops dual-core processor (but its a Centrino so thats not saying much...) but I can do my tut in about 10-15 minutes(decompile, rebuild etc). Oh and as for the double decompile thing; thats just what I read in some other tutorial somewhere and it seemed to work for me (using the single decompile recursively generated rebuild errors...). I'll do some edits to the tutorial though just to clean it up of any fatigue-induced errors I may have made, lol. (note: I should get an "insomniac" medal...) lol.

Thanks cougar! This guide is really really nub friendly! Following other tuts I never got a successful conversion, but your guide was the key to my success! I plan on releasing my first mod as soon as I get team spawns set.
Could you redo this tutorial, except this time using the new H2C and H2G? Then, give some troubleshooting options, because every time I do it with the new ones, it freezes ... no matter what bsp. Also, with the new one, most people get an error when checking the box named "Deathzones", and so in troubleshooting, you might wanna tell them how to transfer over the deathzones reflexive. Oh, and then new H2C has a box labeled "Keep Existing Spawns" ... you might wanna explain that to everyone as well.
Other than that, nice tutorial.
EDIT: To the dude above me, read my sig.
