Halo2: Adding a flashlight to a Weapon

Post by Doom »

So you have a dark level and you want to put on a flahlight or as dazz would say "Its a Torch Damnit" , but you don't want the gay master chief flashlight on all the time, well in this tutorial I attach a light to the weapon by spawning it through a marker on the model.

What you need:
Insolence
Glitchy Guardians reflexive chunk adder.
my mode.ifp plugin in the downloads section.

Step one: open up your map in Glitchy Guardians reflexive chunk adder.

Step two: under plugin change it to weap, then select light in the big drop down box right next to it. now at the bottom of the program and select the weapon you want to add your flashlight to. Click all done here.

Step three: go to the right side of the new box that comes up you want to put 0 in the first box near the top, and 0 in the 2nd box near the top. Then click the check box over to the left side of it. Now do the same for the second row of boxes but this time put 1 in both boxes and check the little box. Click all Done here

Step four: once glitchy guardians app does its thing and closes open up the new map it spit out, it should be like, coagulation.map.map this is the map with the added chunks open it up in insolence.

Step five: Now what we want to do first is adjust the marker. So go to the mode tag and open up both battle_rifle.mode and fp_battle_rifle.mode in the mode tag.

Step eight: Click near the top where it says edit plugin and it should change to dev mode. Now go down and click on the blue text marker. If you are in the battle_rifle.mode right now you want to go to the 3rd chunk which should be called muzzle_flash

Step nine: Now when you opened the 3rd chunk a box should come up and say unknown1 under reflexives, open it up and what you want to do is change the Pitch to 0. The we want to do the smae for first person. so go to fp_battle_rifle.mode. Open it up and go to dev mode, markers and then in this I know I do see flashlight but I haven't looked into trying that marker yet so go to the second chunk and it should be muzzle_flash agian, go to the unknown1 and change the pitch to 0.

Step ten: you can now close both battle rifle tags and move down to the weap tag and open up your weapon that you added chunks to, in my case it would be the battle rifle. Open up your weapon and change to devmode.

Step eleven: Click on attachments under reflexives and go to the chunk number 1, not 0. You should see something that looks like

<null>
<null>
<null>

They might be diffrent but it dosent matter. I explained this to snaku a little bit ago. What the first line means is which marker to spawn whatever you want there. The second marker is when it should be spawned. The third one is still unknown to me but if you know what it does please do share with us.

This is what you will want it to look like.

muzzle_flash
ready
<null>

This will tell it to spawn at the marker muzzle flash. The second one tells it to spawn ready which is basically always on when active. Now that you have that done put the same exact thing for the chunk number 2.

Step twelve: Now while we are in chunk number 2 click on all dependencys on the left side. You will see
yyyy
or maybe random charcters, it might be kind of screwey, anyway type in
ligh

and then it might give you a error when you are going to change it to ligh, just press continue its just stupid . Change ligh, and then change the dependency to objects\characters\masterchief\flashlight_3p . You want to do the same thing for chunk 1 now, so once you what is explained above for chunk 1 change the dependency to objects\characters\masterchief\flashlight_1p .

Step thirteen: Now close the tag, sign your map and ftp, see how it works! The yaw might need a little adjusting but I never adjusted mine It hough it was fine.

Hope this helps some people out and this will also make you mod more l33t =].

Thanks
