Note:
This is a very quick-n-dirty method, it's basically just ripping out the existing MP bsp and sticking a SP bsp in its place.
Prerequisites
- Arsenic (v1.0.1.0 is the latest at time of writing, but older versions will probably work fine).
- A tag collection extracted using Arsenic.
- Halo Custom Edition.
Choose a MP map for your SP bsp to go into, e.g. bloodgulch. (This is not necessarily the same as the MP map you want your conversion to replace, see later)
Find the bloodgulch.scenario file in your Arsenic tag collection. (e.g. Arsenic\XboxTags\levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch.scenario)
Copy this into your Halo CE tag collection. (e.g. Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\tags\levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulchSPMP.scenario)
Step 2.
Open up Guerilla, and open the bloodgulchSPMP.scenario you copied in Step 1.
Scroll right down to the bottom where you'll see the STRUCTURE BSPS section.
Choose the SP bsp you want to convert. I'm going to use a30_a.
Replace levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch
with levels\a30\a30_a
Save the scenario and close Guerilla.
Note: The bsp reference will be highlighted in red because Guerilla can't find it - it doesn't matter.
Step 3.
Copy the modified scenerio (bloodgulchSPMP.scenario) back into your Arsenic tag collection.
Open up Arsenic, and in the Tag Explorer navigate to and click on levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulchSPMP.scenario.
If you did everything right so far Arsenic should load up the SP bsp, congrats, you're almost done.
Step 4.
OPTIONAL
Spawn points and other things will still be in their original places (i.e. for bloodgulch) so to make a playable map you'll want to spend AGES and AGES moving them onto the new SP bsp.
I didn't bother doing all that since I was just testing the method out, so you'll probably be ok skipping this step if you just want to make sure your conversion works. You can come back later and do this properly anyway.
Step 5.
Now in Arsenic goto File > Export > Xbox Map.
Choose which MP map you want to replace (e.g. bloodgulch).
Arsenic will now save your SP>MP conversion as a compressed map. You can now FTP it across to your Xbox and play it! Hopefully it'll work.
Note: In my case I needed to use a default.xbe patched with the 115MB map patch in order to get the conversion to load.
Note: You can use this method to edit any tag with Guerilla.
The End.
Be warned, this tutorial is going to be obsolete once Arsenic's built-in tag editor is finished.
