DaWandererLee wrote:The point is, he made an FTP application, people use it, and it works good for them. It doesn't matter how it was created, unless you created it, or if it somehow makes it more difficult for the user to use the program. All in all, this may have been a relatively quicker program to create, but it still does it's job, it does it well, and it's an original idea. Therefore I congratulate you on your progress, and hope to see more from you in the future

Looks very nice and doesn't look copied, so good job!
Does it handle big files like maps? Every time I make FTP clients, they can't handle sending files over 20 mb.

I really dont see what the big deal is, All you did was use a web browser and just point it to
ftp://username:password@IPaddress
Its something that anyone could of done
and they still can with IE
GJ on making the app but your making it seam like your a big hero or something

Because it works just as well as other FTP clients...I've only seen 1 site that doesn't allow it, and I personally prefer its UI over other FTP clients, it has all you need without all the clutter. Anyways...good job I guess?

Well, then you hate this app. The actual FTP client is just an IE window, and the textboxes put in the information like username and password and server into something like
ftp://user:pass@server, then uses the IE webbrowser to connect.

well I think of this app and IE as two different apps even though they need to link to each other.

heres a suggestion.
build in a .ini file or add the the registry the last used settings to make it faster.
edit: ooooo and add a autoconnect feature to also save time.

What's stupid about it? It works great and it means one less program cluttering up my computer.

Only thing that is bad is it doesn't work on a website or something that has the username as
user@website.com. It fucks it up.

WTF is a labtop? Do you mean laptop(Like a computer that sits on you're >LAP<, or notebook computer)
IMO, This application does not deserve a sticky or whatever the poll says, you can do the same thing with IE(Which is what this basically is). All this application does is take the username, password and IP and creates a URL, and accesses that url using IE.
Example:
C:
sprintf(out,"ftp://%s:%s@%s",username,password,IP);
C#:
xboxURL= "ftp://"+username+":"+password+"@"+IP;
Then just slap in this:
http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/webbrowser.asp
And remove the Address bar, menubar, navigation bar and status bar and add another form that can take a username, password and IP.
There, it could be done easily by any novice programmer.
