i can make models and terrains and everything in wavefront .obj using the UT2003 editor. So with the .obj to max can ik make .obj's convert them to max and then make them into HaloCE maps this stuffs really confusing and i dont got the hek yet(dial-up) so if anyone wants to fill me in....

Alright here this only took like two minutes for me to find and any of you who know how to use internet explorer could have found the doc to install the importer. Goto
http://www.gmaxsupport.com/html/download.asp and download the last file
Wavefront .OBJ Importer . Extract...open readmeobj.txt. Your welcome lazy people!!!

my bad dl and install GMAX Importer v0.2. It imported bloodgulch fine...
