Doom or Quake?

Post by DRL333 »

So do you like Doom or Quake better?

I like the alien invasion story alot but I like Doom better. I guess because it's scarier and has more gore.

not for those same reasons, but Doom, I would have to say on being a bad-ass game, and Quake for storyline.

I'm a huge fan of ID's older games, and here is my analysis:

Original doom games (1,2,final,ect) - Awesome, especially if you use a new engine (I love doomsday)

Doom 3 - not so much, the action is ok but its not that scary.

Doom RPG - Epic win

Quake 1 and it's mission packs - Epic win, mostly because of the ton of mods for it (has any one else here played nehahra?) and the awesome multiplayer.

Quake 2 and its mission packs - Kinda meh in my opinion.

Quake 3/ team arena - Epic win

Quake 4 - like doom 3, but with a crappy quake skin.

My favorite would have to be quake 1. I still play it online all the time.

I've never really played Quake. I hear Doom is a lot better so I tend to go with that. I may get it sometime, though. But I do love Doom.

I used to have the original quake a long time ago. Lost it since. Didn't play the original doom until recently.

I have the special edition of Doom 3 and it has the old Doom games on it, I play those more than the actual game. I love playing them on Nightmare mode with infinite health, the fun never ends until the game freezes up!

Quake, by far. Quake II was amazing, and I started modding (3d games at least) with Q3A.

I prefer Quake for multiplayer, Doom for single player.

Haven't played either in quite a few years... So this may have changed dramatically. ;P

I like to play games made after the cavemen walked the earth. And how come Wolfenstein isn't on the list?

I tried wolfenstien enemy territory (the multiplayer one)
It was fun, but to many annoying mods on.

This.
I still play Q3 on rare occasions. My dad and brother play on some servers my dad manages, so I get on now and then to play as well.

Just got around to play the Quake 4 demo, and I must say "Wow". I prolyl could run Crysis better on my machine than that game. the graphics are the worst I have seen out of ID in relation to the time it came out. I am going to have to stick with Doom on this one, I am shocked on how poor the graphics quality is for me on that game.

lol, i went to a mac store the other day, this guy says quake 4 can run better on my machine than prey, so i go home, unrwap it, plug it in, and all i see are outlines of everthing. my fucking mac doesn't have the appropriate graphics cards, which is also why the graphics on my Halo combat evolved aren't shiny :(

it doesn't help that i cant return it because of pirating reasons, so now im stuck with quake 4 with unuseable graphics :x
