The Guitar Hero topic
The Guitar Hero topic
EDIT 3/20/09: This is my old Guitar Hero Aerosmith topic. I just decided to make it into a topic for all GH games.
The demo for Guitar Hero: Metallica came out today, on the marketplace right now (1.02 GB download I think). Has four songs
"No Excuses" by Alice In Chains
"Sad But True"
"Seek & Destroy"
"Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen
I'm going to try to record some guitar and possibly bass runs tomorrow ("No Excuses" is up). They're all pretty fun songs though, the Alice In Chains one being the easiest. Stone Cold Crazy was surprisingly difficult, but I 5-starred it on my second run. I did pretty crappy on all of them though, as I haven't played RB or GH in about a month, and there is no hyperspeed options in this demo. :(
So yeah, to those who have played it, any thoughts? The engine seems a bit more playable in my opinion. I really did not like GH:WT's engine, but they seems to have fixed alot of the things that annoyed me for the most part (the biggest one being the purple [now grey] notes are much easier to hit, and there seems to be less of them). The in game UI is a bit easier to read, but I wish the multiplier was in a better spot. They also included a star meter thing like Rock Band has, so yay for that. And finally, I liked that little ripple effect at the beginning of Sad But True. I've always favored GH over RB graphically. >__>

guitar hero: metalica/led zepplin/acdc would be fun...but this? pass
I just don't wanna pay for something like this. I mean come on, it would have been better if they made all the songs DLC instead of just one.
Kudos charts:
shadowkhas has: 15. DarkShallFall has: 70. ScottyGEE has: 60. Tural has: 25.
I hope this does fail in an epic manner. So Activision learn not to milk things (as badly ).
EA is #1 they milk all their franchises into yearly iterations, Activision takes #1, they start doing the same...
=(
2 gh games a year is ridiculous. Rock band's DLC idea is really good because you can choose the songs that you want to expand with...Rather than getting dlc with some random losers and a good band or a game dedicated to one band instead of offering an album pack for 1000 points (overpriced to me but Im just basing it off how they price things).
And to go off on a slight tangent, I won't be buying another GH until they do manage to negotiate better metalica and add acdc and/or led in there.

AC/DC will not happen. Their music isn't even on iTunes and most likely never will be. I would like more Megadeth and Metallica in Guitar Hero however.ScottyGEE wrote:And to go off on a slight tangent, I won't be buying another GH until they do manage to negotiate better metalica and add acdc and/or led in there.
As much as I love Aerosmith, I feel that it is wrong to make a game devoted almost solely to that band. Aerosmith's songs are amazing but are so boring to play in Guitar Hero.

To be fair, most people play on medium, but yes, I fced it on a sightread. It's still a great song though.Pyroman wrote:Wow...Dream On is very...boring...
Guess it's a hint of what's to come...

New Trailer. Previews of a Run DMC song, the Run DMC/Aerosmith version of "Walk this way", and some other band that sounds lame.

Meh. I think Aerosmith was a good choice just because they have so many well-known songs, and it's not like they're all going to be as easy as Dream On was. Same goes for Metallica.
And no to Dragonforce. They haven't been around long enough and the certainly don't have as much respect in the music industry as Aerosmith/Metallica, as far as making good/popular music goes. I doubt Hendrix would work either, focusing on one person just seems like a bad idea.
