Xbox 360/Halo 3 Help

I've been having problems playing Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. First, I've had my xbox for more than two years. I've never had a problem with it, no freezing, no red rings, no slowing of the system, nothing.

I was home when I recieved Halo 3 Legendary Edition in the mail. I placed it in the xbox, which had been off for the whole day. I played a fifteen minute game of Forge and about ten minutes worth of Co-Op when it went to a blank screen. I restarted my xbox and it began to freeze, starting with five minutes after turning on the xbox which then grew to about one minute after power to the box. When it would freeze, these static bars would appear across the screen. My xbox would occasionally get the Red Lights of Death/Doom/Shit after a restart.

I called support, they're gonna repair it, etc, etc. I rented an xbox and played Halo. It played successfully. The xbox was on for about two hours in a well ventilated room and was not hot, but was warm. The following day it began freezing just like my old xbox except it was only a screen freeze, no static bars. I've tried two seperate copies of Halo 3, I've tried it with a hard drive, without. I've tried it with different cables, different TV's and I don't know what the problem could be. If anyone has any idea, can you please tell me. When I get my repaired xbox, I'm going to buy a fan to help keep it cool just in case. Man this has sucked, again, any help I appreciate. If this is in the wrong section for whatever reason can a moderater please move it? Thanks.

No, I mean I think these problems are related and I want to know if anyone knows what is specifically causing this or how to reduce the risks of this happening.

Keep your 360 in a well ventilated area, don't play for ridiculous amounts of time, try cleaning the dust off of it from time to time, etc.

Yea... without surge protectors how would I run my Television, Xbox 1, Xbox 360, Laptop, 5.1 Sound System, Printer, Router, and Cable Modem... (Note: plurals...). Anywho if you want to be cool like me keep you Xbox 360 on top of your Xbox 1 and run them both all day, everyday, for no particular reason but to warm up your room... Who needs a heater when you have an Xbox 360!!!

Haha, thanks. I'm really hoping that it was just coincidence that they both developed some what different freezing problems when playing Halo 3. I've been pretty careful with my Xbox 360, keeping it cool, not moving it around much bla bla.
