We have three 360 consoles:

First one got an RRoD, was sent in, and is fine now.
Second one has an RRoD currently, and is awaiting its coffin.
Third one has an error in which it does not display video, but is not RRoD...and I don't feel like paying $100 to fix it.

my first 360 i got in the third wave of 360s and wouldnt read shit for more than 15 mins and got progressively worse and i got it replaced then my current one makes one of the ugliest sounds in the world when reading a disc cuz my mom knocked it over while cleaning the basement while i was playing gears but ther than that noise it works like a charm

The third one? The error can only be fixed by MS, but since it's not an RRoD error, it only has a one year warranty...instead of the three year one covering RRoD errors. It seems to be a pretty damn widespread problem, but MS doesn't seem to care/acknowledge it as such.

That's what I was going to do...but I thought covering the "exhaust" of the console would leave some rather serious damage to the insides, making it kinda obvious. Oh well, I'm just going to send in the RRoD'd one we have sitting around for such an occasion.

why don't you just let it sit there while its on or just play it for a outrageously amount of time. it would be obvious Microsoft didn't add enough exhaust wholes in the system and its there fault not yours.

you could easily pull the " i got distracted and most other systems wouldn't over heat like your 360 models do."

My console has overheated a few times because the back was rather dusty but apart from that, I've had zero problems.

huhhh....... looks like it was user error for the people who got overheated.

as long as you dust the vents on your Xbox 360 it should be fine from what you guys say.
