I'm so out of it...

What are the differences between the Halo 3 xbox and the elite? I'm looking to buy one of them when halo 3 comes out because I have an original xbox 360 and it's crud.

Halo 3 console has a 20gb hard drive and a different paint scheme. Elite has a 120gb hard drive and is black. That's it. It's essentially a $50 difference for a hard drive, which is way, way cheaper than buying a 120gb 360 hard drive separately (It's well over $100 by itself). Either way, I recommend waiting until the 65nm chips start showing up before you buy, if at all possible. Especially considering you already have a 360, just wait for the new motherboard and processors to be released (This Fall), it will be worth it.

Ah ok. I guess I'll do that.

The original 360 should play halo 3 fine right?

Yes. The hardware differences will not prevent you from playing any game. All 360 consoles will be able to play Halo 3.

I'm way out of the loop. What exactly does the 65nm chip do? Better heat efficiency/more reliable?

It's just easier to wait and get the better console, even if you don't think you need it, especially if you don't have an urgent need for one.
