I got this game for Christmas and I am loving it.

But I am really annoyed because I'm at Noveria and I hadn't saved for awhile and then I died during the boss battle... So right now I have to take a break. :x

I love this game, I don't see why everyone is slagging it off.

The combat is like GoW, but better IMO.
The MAKO is brilliant. If you don't like the handling its because you suck at it. Jumping around in it is brilliant, and every now and then you manage to accidentally do something crazy like a barrel roll, dodging 3 Geth rockets.
The conversations are very well done what with all those clever camera angles and crazy shizzot. They're quite funny too.
The story was really interesting. It was insomnia inducingly good. I don't want to go in to too much detail to avoid any spoilers.
This has got to be the only game with interatial, lesbian, asari sex. Achievement unlocked - Diversity.

So, second run through now. Yay!

Mass Effect was just plain bad ass, I was hoping it wouldn't be like some star wars crap and it wasn't fortunely. I hated the combat at first but got use to it after awhile. I got use to GoW's combat easily but I guess you could say they are somewhat the same. Some conversations were pretty funny, most of the conversations with Joker were funny. Joker is awesome. The achievements look and sound hard at first but they are actually pretty easy just time consuming it, so I don't know why people grip about them sucking, I still got to play a second time through to get level 60 and beat hardcore, and then on insanity.

The only good thing about the Mako is being able to snipe with a giant fucking cannon.

Don't feel bad, Scotty. It took my dad over half the game to figure out there was a cannon and a zoom. :D

It's not so much the mako is bad, but when you compare it to the rest of the game...

Krogans have the best dialog :P "If i die in here i'll kill him"

Also i find it funny to hear seth green in a somewhat "serious" role.

I had a horrible star trek moment while listening to the dialog's but other than that the dialog was pretty good; There where some fairly funny moments in there.

I just blew through the game to see how it would end but now I regret doing that because I am having a hard time playing through it again; even though I am being a rebel this time.

But yea; mako = annoying odd. You cannot upgrade it at all and the stupid thing has a shitty was of firing; actually it fires and drives like halo 2 scorpions. The stupid reticle may be on your target but if the mako is on a hill you bullets will probably end up missing. The machine gun I felt was the worst for this; especially since you can almost not even kill anybody thats too close to you.

I feel that the AI wasn't very good for you companions either; they don't think enough... Die too quickly when left unmanaged, and get in the way.

Also I never even knew you could steady the sniper rifle >_> I spent minutes just killing one dude!

All in all very good game; sad though that so far all the "other" planets are pretty boring to go to.

Rented it, beat it, and want to buy it. I really liked it. I don't have that much of a problem with the Mako though. It comes with a jump boost... so you shouldn't have that much of a problem shooting over hills. I find it kind of fun to explore the different worlds and stuff, but Noveria sucked. The asari matriarch was the hardest fight in the game for me... mostly because it took me 3 tries. The first time I didn't realize you can't kill her at first.. so I spent most of the time trying to and her goons eventually got me at close range. Second time... She used her crap knockdown biotic power thing, it hit me on the walkway next to the railing, and i fell back INTO the railing, and glitched. Worst thing was you can't even get to the menu while knocked down, and my guy can't get up, and I only have one other buddy who's next to me. I waited for like five minutes, but my companion was in a position that she couldn't be shot because there was crap in the way, she couldn't HIT anything because of the same crates, and I had to restart the game because of it.. REALLY annoying. Thank god there was an autosave right there, or I would'nt have played it again. I also glitched into the wall once... Pathetic glitches, but I still played it a bunch cause the gameplay is really pretty appealing to me. After it stopped glitching I really enjoyed it.

Yeah I went into an elevator and it went down instead of up, then opened up under the sea.

Playing as a sentinel (my second playthrough) is probably 3x harder than playing as a soldier, mainly because all you got for real damage dealing is your pistol... I think i'll definitely play it again afterwards, for a 3rd playthrough, probably as a shotgun/sniper class. Or maybe soldier again, that was sorta fun.

You guys might have already seen this, but I just saw on the XBL news that there is going to be the first of series of downloadable content comin' out on March 10th for 400 ms points. "Bring Down the Sky", "Further expands the Mass Effect universe, continuing the adventures of Commander Sheperd and the crew of the Normandy."

Sweet. I'll probably trash my current player and just restart the game then. I'm like a quarter-way through the game, but I haven't played in ages, since I got bioshock/cod4/assassins creed, so I'm totally lost as to where I am now.
