Video games cannot be considered a sport with the current deffinition.

Video games are considered a hobby(IMO) so I think the correct term would be a connoisseur gamer.
EHHH! Wrong answer

Athletic - physically active and strong; good at athletics or sports: an athletic child.

Technically, moving your thumbs is being physically active. So, by definition, Gaming is a sport.
I also forgot to bold prowess in my original post. I don't really see any valor or bravery shown by playing a game.

Prowess, OR skill. There is some skill involved. How fast and well you can move your thumbs.

Thus the reason they were created. I suppose it's evolved since then...

But thank you, hobby was the word I was looking for when typing my original post in here.

I don't know if I would consider gaming a sport, I'm leaning towards no, but I'm not sure. That has NOTHING to do with whether or not you can be a pro gamer though... I still say that yes you can be a professional gamer, a lot of people don't like some "pro" gamers so they say you can't be. I have to agree with you on disliking some of these "pros" because some that claim to be aren't really, but there are a few that are legitimate pro gamers and can live completely off of gaming, I have to give it to them, they went out and got a job doing what they enjoy.

SO, you = lacking in knowledge towards how much skill somebody may have in the game. Now I can't wait to hear your argument towards this...
k...
Did you read how Lodex responded?
He took it as a joke.
Maybe because it was one?

Now I'm one to call people out on things such as that, but come on kibito87, that was clearly not intended to be a discussion piece, and to use it in an argument as one is quite a stretch.

Has anyone see how a professional gaming team works, They're almost like any other sports team. The amount of communication and everything is unbelievable. Yeah it's just playing a game, but some of them take it to a whole new level.

Well pro gamers basically do their thing in a world which isn't even real. Thus you can't really define it as a sport simply because all the action doesn't take place in the real world. ALL other sports do take place in the real world. And this is what sets gaming appart from a sport, and this is why it cannot be considered a sport imo.

Why are people discussing whether or not it's a sport in the topic about whether you can be pro or not?

And normally I like to stay away from arguments because they are worthless such as this. But having played with drxthirst before, his attitude towards others such as myself are infact just like that picture and it is annoying how people can act like that.

It's better to let it die before it goes further. I"m sure anyone can agree. So back to the real discussion.

May I also suggest renaming the topic to something like 'Pro gaming, what is it?'. This way we can discuss the sport thing too!

If you say so. I guess you tea bagging me isn't considered having a bad attitude towards someone? Because if I recall correctly, your spartan's ass had quite a time with my spartan's face.

Let's keep personal vendetta's in the PMs. You are helping derail your own thread.

Also, let's be clear. You starting talking trash before you got my balls in your face.

Kibito, I'm not going to argue with you.
Your arguments are pointless.
Come back when you have something to argue about.
Also, you can let it go that we beat you on Sanctuary.

Kibito87, for the good of the thread, do not respond to DrXThirst.

Just let it drop, guys.

It's not doubtful that that is indeed quite skillful. But, I just don't see gaming fitting in with today's definition of a sport.

From memory, you've commented on Golf not being a sport three times, though nobody has asked about nor even mentioned Golf.

[/offtopic]

Gaming may not be considered a sport, but in today's world, it is considered an occupation. Though, not a highly respected one.

Well it's just stating my opinion, and some people consider golf a sport, and Nascar too... Also just making sure I get my point across that you can be a pro gamer, I don't see why it would be any different on a respect level than being a pro golfer either.
