shits and giggles for me.

I used to be a die hard for GTA, but meh, I'll try this one over gamefly when it becomes available.

Never told anyone because I was too busy playing it, but like several people, I bought it on an urge. I don't know why either. I've not been interested in a GTA since the Playstation 1, but for some reason, I wanted this game. There weren't enough hours left in the day to get very far, but I have managed to do a few missions, but I've mostly killed a lot people. This game is very easy to pick up and play. Controls took a bit to get used to, but once I remember the combos I kick ass. I recommend this game for any fan of the series or someone just starting it.

A review that isn't a blatant misrepresentation from a large news source? Shocking.

Just finished the whole thing. I wish I had that last night when I was convincing my parents that it was ok for me to get (which I did eventually do). Sure would have made things much easier. There were a few parts that I felt were slight misinterpretations, but were later fixed in passing comments. Seemed like the writer had a change of heart in a few parts. Good article though.

I got GTA IV yesterday. Everybody told me that without a preorder or reserve, I wouldn't get it. But the GameStop I went to had like 20 copies left. I am not very far, but I really like the game. I haven't tried online play yet, but I'm sure it will be fun. I like that you can get around the city without having to drive yourself. I also like that the game has an incredible amount of detail for having such a big map.

It probably has some type of progressive mesh (mapping?) that only renders it when your within a certain distance, or can/can't see it.

Yeah, my local best buy looked like they were overstocked, they had a ton of copies left. I watched my friend play it and it looked pretty cool, I think the MP would be really fun with friends. I was expecting better looking graphics to tell you the truth. The trailers I saw looked great but the actual game looked ok. Its not like the graphics were bad, just I thought they could be a little better, especially the textures close up. But of course graphics should never make or break a game unless they really suck and you can't see anything.

On an HDTV, GTA4 can look really sweet.
However, while it is gta and its a massive city (so I have to give it credit), I've seen some textures that would belong on the nintendo 64 or halflife 1...No this isn't any kind of LOD pop-in either.
From the time I spent on SDTV, one can liken it to an original xbox game though.

I don't care that much though. Especially if I were to compare san andreas to this :P

However, its unfortunate, I have to do work, but I just wanna play the damn game =(

I'm having problems connecting to multiplayer games. It keeps telling me unable to join game session, returning to single player. My friends can join fine but I can't... :? any ideas? I've port forwarded my 360 already..

I also gotta add, this song has an amazing track list. i've always been impressed by R*'s ability to get licensed music, but damn, Justice, Smashing Pumpkins, Aphex Twin, Kavinsky, and Ghostface among them.

I played it, car controls were a little odd but overall awesome. The cover system works fluidly and there's nothing more fun than killing people to seryoga's "king ring" on the radio.

i've heard the driving was odd, but won't be getting it for a while. no xbox, and i need a job first, which isn't looking so good either, long story. anyways, i've been a fan of the series since i played GTA III on my step-brother's PS2. vice city was probably my favorite, but SA is good as well. thing i'm happiest about is the updated graphics and physics though, can't wait to try it out.
