I don't think it will be playable on that setup, even on the lowest setting and resolution, but you can always try.[cc]z@nd! wrote:to give me an idea of how much fail my computer will be, i've got a ~2 Ghz AMD processor, ~1.25-1.5 GB of ram, and an x800 videocard. i play oblivion at 800x600, medium-ish settings, draw distance maxed. can i play the demo? would it even be worth trying?
I played.
Total crap.

It's just completely boring. Yes ok it has nice visuals and cool little attention-to-detail bits, but you quickyl realise it's just all about shooting people. And whilst that's not a particularly bad route to take, it makes it so boring that it isRockymods wrote:There's never been a game that everyone has liked. What did you find bad about it?

It's on a island as well, amd for some reason whenever an island is involved the game always phails in my mind =P
I played about 5 minutes of it in the end, the lack of puzzle elements deterred me I guess, also making me having to turn and look at people when they speak in cut-scenes is such a terrible touch.. :\
Basically, Half-Life fucking owns this crap.

Puzzles certainly do amp up games. That reminds me of shadow of the colossus. One of the best titles out there even if it is for the PS2.Prey wrote:It's just completely boring. GTAF agrees. Shadow of the Colossus was the shit.

Extremeley realistic physics, you can shoot down trees with heavy weapons, the dart pwns everyone. It's far cry times a million. Definitely buying amazing amazing game. Too bad it took 6 hours for the giant demo download >__>

i tried it out on my pc, and it runs better than i thought it would, hats off to crytek for making it so scalable!
i've got textures, physics, object detail, and something else (shadows?) on medium, the rest on low. 800x600. i agree with prey, it feels kinda bland in the gameplay, but it also has some really cool improvements as well.
my thoughts (warning, wall of text) :
the suit. it's got strength, armor, speed, and cloaking. alright, so did the Mjolnir, but you have to play more strategically in crysis because you can only do one at once. for example, if you're in a tough firefight, you're likely in armor mode, and when you're taking too many hits, you could hide behind something, recharge a bit, then go invisible, or use speed to run way away. that or use strength to throw one guy into the others.
the gun modding is cool too. the demo didn't have much, so i couldn't have a grenade launcher or scope, but the way they have it set up, it works very smooth in tough combat situations, so you can change your gun in an instant. the lack of an animation for things like putting on a silencer sucks, but i say it's worth it to make your gun completely change at your whim, no waiting.
what i love most, aside from the AI, is the physics. on low i was only limited to objects, so i wasn't too impressed, but when i changed the setting and buildings became destructible, i started having much more fun. one example is me coming up to a village. i shot at the guys a ways away, but didn't kill any, so they called for backup. as i get closer, i go invisible, and notice they're all going inside a garage, so i toss a nade in, and blow them, as well as the structure, to kingdom come.
and the AI is well done. there's an alert meter similar to metal gear solid, so i can tell whether my route to their camp is sneaky enough. i can set traps by throwing an object over in their general area, and they'll go investigate, heading right into an ambush. and the invisibility's handled well, except for manned turrets. i can take a shot or two, then go invisible and get behind 'em. but it isn't just instant invisibility, because if it's bright enough, for example, or if you're moving alot, they can see you.
all the tiny details are great. when i'm sneaking through the jungle, underbrush is moved by me, trees are shot into multiple pieces, leaves quiver when bullets pass through, and there's even wildlife! any game where i can maim a korean with a chicken is fine by me.

ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

I played a little more with the editor. T'was fun flying around in my helicopter and hover tank and any other vehicle present in the editor! It is such a crazily awsome thing to play with, I'de reccomend playing around with it if you download this!
I also recorded a video, the difficulty is easy and graphics low however. A beastly game to record.
