It still lacks any emotion in the story. The stories always fail to grip me, which is a big make-or-break point when I consider a game.
Oh...story. Yeah, the games always lack when it comes to that. I don't know, I guess I love the detail they're putting into this game. A whole big city you get to explore and fuck around in, complete with labeled streets and actual addresses for businesses, restaurants, etc.
I know you said not to mention Multiplayer, but the fact that you can have 16 players freely roaming around the entire city is really awesome to me. In this one, the Police can actually work on your side. They proceed after the agressor in a crime or shootout or whatever. You can surrender or resist, you can call in squad cars, ambulances and fire trucks. I guess I just like that it's a lot more realistic.
The many uses of the cell phone and how it impacts gameplay: managing your contacts, interacting with them, utilizing the internet, etc. Oh, and they created over 100 fictional internet sites for the game. The new engine they're using makes player movements and animations much more realistic. The leap from GTA: SA and GTA IV is huge (as it should be, considering the upgrade from the original Xbox). It's just that everything has improved - including the story, though like you said, it is pretty weak and is nothing compared to Halo or other games. Name something and I can probably tell you how they've upgraded it.
