pfshaw... don't teach C++ in school. Let me ask you, where do they teach you C++ in school. Every school I've ever heard of if it even has a programming class teaches the stupid stupid useless language of a joke that is VB. But that's where online tutorials and books come in. That's where I've learned most of my knowledge.
you could make it in java, they teach that in alot of schools (around here at least), and there are a bunch of java games out there, plus runescape is highly successful (even though i think it sucks) and it was made in java... just a thought
I never really looked at Java because I can't think of a lot of big companies that use it to make apps (I'd like to be a programmer of some sort after college). I agree that Runescape sucks. Lastly, take Rammstein out of your signature because, even though they are a decent band, Germans hate them because of their popularity in America (I'm assuming you're American).
They don't teach high school level C++ anymore, the official AP curriculum is Java; which is not an awful language, and a great introduction to Object Oriented Programming.
It's great that you're getting these ideas down, but I don't mean to be offensive when I say that you sound a little inexperienced. Companies don't generally pick up game ideas, so your best bet would be to make it yourself. This seems a tad ambitious for a first project in programming, so it might be better to start smaller (especially if you planned to write the engine yourself; which I doubt because 3D graphics programming requires a thorough knowledge of college level calculus and linear algebra, and programming it to work over a network is no cakewalk either). If I were you, I would look up some programming books and guides over the internet and start learning with Java, C++, or C#. Once you've got the grasp of programming, you can start moving on to some basic 2D games. Take it slow, these things take a lot of time. There are some programs out there for making your own games; I believe there is a high level language called Dark Basic that is designed with game development for young people in mind, that might be worth checking out.
There's nothing wrong with ambition and it's great that you're enthusiastic about this, but this is one of those things that takes a lot of time. Starting to learn some programming now will give you a headstart and would never hurt if you're looking towards a future in computers.

You are an idiot.

I'd have to agree with THC, you should learn a little more about programming before you take this on.
ya sounds cool cool if you learn a lot and stuff.. I'm on my way down that path as well... but ya like they said... just read books on it and experiment with stuff... you'll get the hang of it eventually... who knows? maybe this game will be a major hit when you actually make it? lol... good luck with that by the way....
