Must haves for me:
Decent camera, doesn't have to be fancy.
Open Source (Doesn't need this, but it's nice to have)
Records video
MMS
MSN Messenger
IRC Client to download
Marketplace
Sharp screen
Large screen
Anti-Glare screen
Keyboard, on screen or off
Decent grip, nothing super slim
MP3 to Ringtone
Good specs, (processor, memory, ect)
Fast
3G
USB 2.0 compatible, or similar
SIM Card slot
Allows SD Cards
Copy and Paste function
Customizable (custom themes, tones, ect)
I'm thinking of getting the G1 but my contract doesn't expire for another 3 months, plus I want to see what other Android/Open Source phones will be available.

Meh, cell phones are too powerful these days, I wouldn't be surprised if one made me a smoothy.

Texting's stupid. You can call someone and get information faster for the cool price of nothing.

I use texting mostly for across canada / us not locally as much.

I don't have the phone sorry

Anyway, I like a good camera, readable screen, easy speakerphone access (not having to press and go into a few menus is good), talk and text capabilities.
Most other things my iPod Touch can do better (or any device I will carry with me in future)

I feel the same way as you, but when others text you, it would be a bit awkward to respond by actually calling them. The main reason I use texting is because the people around me text, peer pressure man.

I hate texting, well, I pretty much hate everything that's popular with our generation.
