Get Firefox.

As a bonus, you no longer need to use IE. Horray!

That kitten with the sniper rifle would be terrifying enough for me to switch to Firefox...

Tell her Internet Explorer had serious flaws, and presents a risk to her internet banking and transactions (if she does any of those).

Or, tell her hackers can screw over your computer by using IE as a window into your PC.

As long as your story has a reference to hackers, she'll consider switching. Because parents are predicable like that.

What he says is true. Worked with my mom on Norton, Kapersky, and Steam. Just get her on Firefox, Delete all of the Internet Explorer Shortcuts, and put AdBlock Plus on.

Do the popups pop up at random or only when your browsing the web?

Safari is not bad, I use Little Snitch to block pop-ups. I would say for a good one get one that can block by hostname, that way you can just kill all of them easily.

Just use firefox and get adblock plus and leachblock.

I also found these two programs a while back and they both seem to help with removing spyware and ads.

When installing spybot don't install the tea timer because it may interfere when installing programs. Also Spy Hunter is detects it as a threat even though its not. Spybot has something called "Immunize," this helps block harmful web sites and cookies, I would check for immunize updates as much as possible if you can.

Spybot S&D: http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd160.exe

This program removed a popup problem I had. Seems to be the best ad blocker if your having problems getting rid of ads. But I'd recommend just using firefox because I never had any add problems with it.

Ad-Aware: http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Always make sure your not deleting files you need when using these because some applications may be detected as a virus or something because of what they do. Some programs used for pirating may be detected as a virus.

If you need any help just pm me or post here.

Delete all the IE shortcuts and replace them with firefox ones but rename them to IE and change the icon to the IE one. Then get the IE theme on your firefox. It's a bit different, but you can say its IE 7.1 or something.

i made my teacher freak out by changing her background to a screencap of a ton of windowsand moving all the icons to relatively off screen and then hiding the taskbar lol

but anyways scan for spyware/adware then take care of any problems there then make the upgrade to firefox
