I pooped myself when I heard. My friend was angry with me that I didn't know. This has been going on since the seventh...

I'm positive it's the country they're talking about. Please, stupid comments like "lolwut? we're at war with russia? wtf? lol." are not appreciated. The topic description specifically states that it IS NOT about the state of Georgia, but the country. I don't know how I can be any clearer.

I'm surprised you didn't hear of this earlier.
I saw some really horrific pictures of Georgian troops and the likes last week.
Doesn't look good at all.

They're not even at War, it's a freaking Border Clash.
Wikipedia sucks, no war has been declared.
Georigan forces were fighting seperatists and then moved to retake South Ossetia which had been 'independant' since 1992. Apparently yesterday night Russian troops/tanks/helicopters crossed in South Ossetia and are reaching the regional capital. They moved in to alledgedly protect the Russian majority in South Ossetia. A Russian general claims that Russian peacekeepers are being engaged by reguler Georgian forces and Georgia claims theres been bombing raids against airbases and towns in Georgia itself.
-NATO hasn't said anything official but are meeting about it.
-Condoleza Rice told Russia to 'respect Georgias wishes to territorial integrity'
-US and EU delegates are to be flown out soon.
Maybe if some of actually read you'd understand what was happening. It's none of this WW3 nonsense.

Yeah, and Vietnam wasn't a war either. Please. The word is being tossed around loosely, and has lost its meaning. Declaring war is for squares nowadays.
This is fucking crazy. Russia's been escalating militarily a lot this past year...

So my friend has been keeping a close eye on this, and, apparently, Russia has captured about half of Georgia.

Nah. As long as too many countries don't start siding with Russia and/or Georgia, there's nothing that would really cause World War III at the moment.
