Well, we watched this in my Social Studies class, and I found it very interesting. So I thought I'd show you guys.
http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl= ... a=N&tab=wv#
Its a video that shows the statistics of how much we will consume and leave behind on the planet during our lifetime.

Mark Twain:
There are three kinds of lies:
1) Lies
2) Damn Lies
3) Statistics
There are not many statistics I trust, especially if they are provided by a bias source.
Not saying that these statistics are false (because the actual facts are we do consume a lot and their are a lot of things that need to go right), but in an age where Americans are thinking of themselves as progressives and knowing exactly what to do about decades old problems, I find I cannot really put any faith into these kinds of let's-change-everything-with-a-simple-solution documentaries; they are just too biased.

They dont suggest you change anything. They just show you how much we consume.

Well the numbers are the average of like 10 people. So its not exact some could be way higher some could be way lower. But its the average of a bunch of people.

No, driven by profit actually. Whatever sells people whatever sells.

I am not surprised.
But the thing is, the natural resources that we consume re-grow to some extent. It's not like we're consuming this at one given time. It's over the course of 76 some-odd years, so placing everything in one place seems a bit irrelevant, perhaps NG is dangling shiny things to grab some ratings.

It is kinda interesting to see our consumption put into perspective, but it's also kinda to be expected. It just seems like a lot because a lifetime is a loooong time. For example, if you walked 2 miles a day every day for a 75 year lifetime, you could walk around the globe 2 1/5 times. Big deal.
On a semi-related note, it bugs me when people / the media overhypes cutting down trees. It's actually more "green" to cut them down because after ~55 years they stop absorbing as much carbon.

I watched the British version of this. Wasn't very different, but still interested. Oh, and they had bags of milk to suggest how much copulation a man would have.
