Microsoft Windows Vista Debate.

I personally have a desktop PC with Vista and a Laptop with XP.

Ok look, I dont care what anyone says, Vista is good.

Every one is talking about how all the programs are not compatible.

Well, every program i ever used ( becides an antivirus program ) worked.

Second of all. People say how the user account control (UAC) is annoying and it makes vista horrible, well DISABLE IT THEN!

That is my opinion on Vista.

Share yours :D

Its personal preference. There is really no "debate" about it.

Its like the debate between Mac vs. PC or Console vs. Computer.

I have a Vista and XP machine, too.

Who honestly cares? There is no reason to debate this. I hope you're not spending your time obsessing over people not liking something you like.

I dual boot, and I have to say that my Vista actually runs faster then XP. Both are fast though, and both work fine. Only bummer is that I have to reinstall all my installed programs onto the other partition in order to use them.

That's probably a good idea. Laptops are less powerful and can't handle vista as well as higher-power desktops.

I agree. I don't see why everyone says nothing is compatible.

It's a double-edged sword. You leave it on, you go out of your mind because of the millions of boxes asking you if you're really really absolutely positively sure if you want to move a file from documents to program files. The obvious answer would be to disable it, but then there's nothing left to do what UAC was supposed to do in the first place.

Personally, I think Vista is good for computers that can run it good, in other words, decent ones. Unlike mine, which takes 5 minutes to start up/shut down and shows a white window for like 10 seconds whenever I open my documents folder until it finally displays its contents. In the case of lower powered computers, Vista r teh suxx.

Or you could just not post here...

I used the release candidate for a while and was very impressed with speech recognition.

Err... the default wallpapers are cool?

A funny thought just occurred to me; can someone use the swooshy alt-tabber while using the windows '98 style theme?

Hurr.

Then you should "personally" upgrade to XP on the desktop.

Durr?

They aren't.
Jdogg wrote:Well, every program i ever used ( becides an antivirus program ) worked.
Maybe because you chose the old software.
Jdogg wrote:Second of all. People say how the user account control (UAC) is annoying and it makes vista horrible, well DISABLE IT THEN!
Those people are noobs then. Not everyone is a noob.
Jdogg wrote:That is my opinion on Vista.
Along with over 10,000 people's opinions, yours is the same.
Tural wrote:There is no reason to debate this.
Yes, yes, and YES.

Halo 2 Sound Tools doesn't work and that's the only reason why I don't like Vista. :P

There is absolutely no incentive for me to upgrade to Vista.
No new features that make me excited. No security problems with my current system. Nothing. It's a good OS, but I just don't need to fork over money for it when it's unnecessary.

I got a free Vista upgrade with my computer, so I don't see the point in going back to XP. It's sexy and after disabling the annoying UAC, I'm all set.

I upgraded to Vista for 64-bit. New memory management is great, love the gadgets and Windows Aero.

Debugging on x64 hasn't changed much...besides the fact that int64 long cat is loooooong </insider>

All in all I'd have to say I'm satisfied with vista. It runs smoothly etc.

I did disable those gadgets cause I simply didn't need them. Also had some minor problems running certain programs, but most of those problems were solved when running in administrator mode.

But if I had had xp first, then I agree there is no real reason to upgrade.
Though I like the fact vista defragments the hd every week without asking, I always seemed to forget that on my old pc.

Who cares about people ranting at unknown users in the rant thread?
anyways.
to me, i find vista alot more smooth and stream lined than xp.
xp is just like a cheese grater on my ass more than anything.
its not the GUI that got me it was the userbility more than anything.
besides my licenece for xp had run out after reinstalling so many times so i decided to get vista home premium.
