Now, I am posting this because I believe this is absolutely disgusting. I am a huge supporter of the military. Possible Marine after I graduate from college. So instead of throwing just my own personal biased at you, I am going to do it in many different ways.
First: (Personal view) "This Marine recruiting station is trying to recruit our youth to go to Iraq to kill and be killed. And we are against that," said Joi, a member of Code Pink Women for Peace.
- This country does not force men and woman to join the military
- The Iraq War has by far, a very small amount of our military (in all major wars) men and woman currently fighting.
How is this unjust? So basically, is the argument here that the recruiters are at fault because they respected someones choice to join the military? Yes, I cant believe people actually believe the recruiters are at fault because a soldier made the choice to enlist. Just absolutely disgusting. Freedom of Speech, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, our entire way of life with respect to the constitution is based upon choice. Did these soldiers have a choice in enlisting? Yes they did, and it is completely barbaric to believe they didnt have a choice. Perhaps your terrible household and terrible parenting drove them to join the military, Cindy Sheehan?
Second: (Personal Understanding of Catholic view) "God created man and left him in the hand of his counsel" God's gift to man was freedom, the freedom to live without divine intervention. God offers his love and respects those who deny it and succumb to sin. God's love is to be free and make our own choices, did these soldiers have no choice? Did the recruiters force these men and woman to join? No, God respects the choices we make in our lives, we should do the same. Our goal is to be one with God, so shouldnt we also respected the choices of other individuals? Whether or not we agree is irrelvent, the choices you make decide your fate. Asserting that someone else is at fault for making the choice for you, is asserting that God is also at fault for letting man make their own choices. Isnt the Devil in Hell because he valued himself greater than God, to defy God, does that not mean you value your own opinions greater than that of God's?
Third: (Personal Understanding of Republican view) These people believe its wrong for the military to recruit, yet, it is because of their sons and daughters they can sit in the street and sing.
Fourth: (Personal Understanding of Conservative view) If your the age of 18 and fit the health requirements for service, it is your choice to enlist, while the draft is not active.
(Not actual Democratic viewpoint, personal best shot) I personally dont know the democratic/liberal view. Although none have admitted it, I personally believe they would bring back the draft. Mainly on the belief, that if they believe socialism and the expansion of government is the true solution, then wouldnt a socalist provided military be accurate? So therefore, they would believe Marine Recruiters are not necessary and they would actually support the removal of recruiters. The draft would be the necessary step to providing a military. The democrats started the Vietnam War, which required the draft, entered WWI-II, which required the draft, not to mention Korea. Am I wrong?
"We are the civilian population; we control the military," Adams said. "We the people have to take back our control of the military."
When I read this, I started thinking of a quote from Anchorman, "I thought you were kidding. I thought it was a joke, I even wrote it down in my diary. Veronica had a very funny joke today. I laughed at it later that night."
Discuss, though please, do not express hatred on religion or politics. I am looking for disagreement with what I have stated here, not for everyone to increase their heart rate. I ask/urge the staff to do with this topic as they please if they feel the topic has taken a turn for the worst.

WTF! I am absolutely ashamed of this people. To think they are of the same county as me. They have no respect for those who keep our country safe. Besides it's not the marines' fault that their kids are going and dieing. The marines only invite you, they are not forcing you. These people are a bunch of dumbasses.
If you believe the war is the correct action to take. If you don't agree with what it stands for and why it's happening, then I don't see the point of signing up to something that potentially is life threatening.xlRainlx wrote:WTF! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there are those who stand up for what they believe. By all means, do so. Just don't drag other's who want nothing to do with the cause into it.

People who signed up for the military may have had no other choice in occupation, and needed it to make a living. They also might've joined the military before the War on Terror started.kibito87 wrote:If you believe the war is the correct action to take. Yes tural, but if you nuked the penguins you would also melt the last of the arctic ice in which a large amount of fresh water would be released causing sea levels to rise and we would need not worry about global warming as the effects have already started.
Oh and the part about one's choice versus God's, i would rather choose my own choices than "listen" to a man who i will never see in my life time and then come back in the next life as a squirrel just to irritate a few people.

I dont know, but it sounds like your missing the point. "I would rather choose my own choices", God's love gave you the power to make your own choices, which is my point. Everyone has the power to make their own choices. What exactly do you mean by "listen"?warlord wrote:Oh and the part about one's choice versus God's, i would rather choose my own choices than "listen" to a man who i will never see in my life time and then come back in the next life as a squirrel just to irritate a few people.

people have many reasons for signing up, and it definitely isn't just b/c they agree with the war. most do agree with it, but that usually wasn't why they signed up. i myself have multiple reasons, but i would've signed up war or no war, and there being a war makes me feel like signing up had more of a purpose.kibito87 wrote:If you believe the war is the correct action to take. NEVER true. They may have been ignorant enough to believe so, but that's never true. Trust me, ANYONE can get a job. Even the mentally retarded and physically handicapped can. If I ever meet anyone in the military that says they joined for some stupid reason like this, I will refuse to work with them or under them, and I'm friends with enough rank to make their time in the military a living hell.Dsoup wrote:People who signed up for the military may have had no other choice in occupation, and needed it to make a living.
Your tax dollars aren't meant to support idiots who "can't get a better job", nor do I fight for them.
I'm XBC Requiem, in case none of you noticed.
