I guess everyone is gonna start eating raw vegetables now..
It may not be good when you get a romantic moment with that special someone and you both look into eachothers eyes deeply..

This is far from what the topic discussion implies. It's red LEDs. There appear to be 49 of them. Show me a watchable film, or web page in a 7x7 pixel size and I'll be impressed.

You mean I could potentially watch porn all day at work and no one would know?
Sweet.

I'm with Tural on this...how is it even visible at that size? Has any human even tested them out yet like on their own eye?

Would be a good novelty for about half an hour, which is what the time limit seems to be for wearing those. I'd hate to have that a lot...I rather like taking breaks from the internet.

What if that thing sparked or something, your eye is done. I really dont see whats wrong with walking over to a computer to go on the internet. Theres really no point in having some electric device stuck to your eye...

Indeed... It's a start, however.

What were once punch hole card machines are now super powerful multi-tasking computers....wait about 20 years and the same evolution will be the same for these contacts with any luck.

How do you charge them?

Evidently, they won't require you to charge them as they will more than likely be one-time use, like current contact lenses.

So your saying you use them for like an hour and then there gone?

That's what they appear to be like at the moment, but anything described as of yet in the article is still in a very early stage of development. So, in given time their technology could develop rapidly.

I'm assuming you didn't click on the
MedGadget link..
The researchers hope to power the whole system using a combination of radio-frequency power and solar cells placed on the lens, Parviz said.

To power them, most practically, you'd probably use the light that is usually directed at the eye for power. It looks like a tiny amount of power is needed anyway.

I think I'll stick to glasses, but this is a cool creation, nonetheless.
(If I'm not mistaken, they did have something similar like this for glasses? In testing, of coarse.
