I hate Microsoft. I just tried to download WMP 11, and it says I need Service Pack 2 to download it. How f*cking typical of them. Is it possible for me to get it without downgrading from SP1 to SP2?

No, but what's so bad about SP2?

downgrading my butt, you should have updated windows the day that came out, it has a ton of security issues fixed in it, including enhanced USB and firewire support, a few extra things for IE, a new firewall, enhanced virus protection, only idiots or anti-microsoft extremists (which would be using Linux or OSX anyway) would say that SP2 is bad. Why don't you just use winamp or something similar if you really want to leave your computer (VERY) vulnerable to outside attackers.

Yeah...I don't see how SP2 is considered a downgrade...Quit your whining, use alternatives or upgrade...There are just somethings you need to cope with in order to get things (Like a job...I'd rather get paid to do nothing).

I also don't see that as a reason to hate a company...

The best alternative it seems for freak is linux (ubuntu linux is sweeeeet) or go to a mac (though unfortunely OS 9 was the last good-looking Mac OS, OSX is just... not as good)

Os 9 was nice LOOKING, so was OS 8, but my personal favorite apple was the Apple IIGS (that thing kicked butt, I couldn't beleive when we had finsihed moving into our new house and it was nowhere to be found, "We sold it" my parents said >.<)

How is getting those OS's helpful in getting around installing WMP 11 without SP 2? :?

Ahh I see, you mention an alternative :P

Jesus Christ, If you don't want to get SP2, go get iTunes. It can read all the formats WMP can and then some. It's highly suggested that you get SP2 though, but its not a downgrade by far.

In my personal oppinion, WMP v11 is terrible. Let me start off with a few positive things...

1) The 'Shuffle' option now has a button, and is thus more accessable, as opposed to "Play > Shuffle" or "Control + H" - I like buttons.

2) The 'Repeat' option now has a button, and is thus more accessable, as opposed to "Play > Repeat" or "Control + T" - Again, I like buttons.

3) The organized Library is kind of cool.

Everything else flat out sucks... Half of the options availble upon a 'Right-Click' of a media file are gone, and as far as playlists go...I'll just stop here...

Long story short, within three days I had downgraded back to v10...

iTunes is not bad - I use it for my iPod; However, I still perfer the much easier navigation of WMP v10.

WMP11 looks smexy.

SP2 is needed, though it does slow PC's down, and fill them with crap... it is very good for updating security.

'Nuff said.

Not really, our old laptop ran faster after it upgraded to SP2, and it doesn't "fill them with crap" Do you know whats in the service packs?

Security fixes and such, I'd imagine. Though most of them are just to prevent idiots from downloading viruses etc.

I did fine before SP2, I don't need a huge yellow bar to tell me when I'm about to download a virus.
