plus, using the darker color helps the enviroment. because of google's light background, screens need to draw more power to make the white, and based on the amount of hits google gets, there's significant electricity that goes to displaying google's white background for everyone that visits, as opposed to if it had a darker one.

The whole energy/google homepage thing is old, and lame.
