Et Tu Brute?

I just watched the video...Pretty kool, shows that the brutes have a very significant part in the third game, in tremendous numbers and ranks.
One thing though is that unless it was specifically made not to show us things, a lot of placeholders seem to have been used in the video...The grunts appeared to be from halo2 (exact I mean) but with the better normal map rendering system, the smg, the MC's arms. Also of note is the crappy contrail system in halo 3 currently...Can't wait till thats updated, like the contrails on the spiker look choppy and blocky...
You could see a lot of visual upgrades to halo 2 though, the plasma grenades in action look awesome!
apart from the things I've pointed out (even though its an alpha), the vidoc upped my anticipation for halo 3
What do you gyus think of it?

It was pretty cool...I always wondered why brutes were usually pretty easy to take down when they seemed so powerful. It seems like they'll be much more powerful in Halo 3 which definitely a cool thing. I also noticed the spiker contrail, but it's probably just a placeholder like you said, so meh.

Although it was pretty obvious what was going on...Bungie officially said that the Elites aren't part of the Covenant anymore. Obviously they'll still play a part in the game but it should be interesting. What will happen to the hunters that were on their side too?

Darn right those better be placeholders, nothing, not one thing looked too good IMO. I know it's alpha, so it shouldn't be... but dang they were bad, especially that contrail effect.

Also, why the hell are the grunts with teh brutes? And looks cool that the Brutes can wield the plasma cannons. =)

Give it a day or so (or look at my first p0st in this thread)
once IGN and GameTrailers get there hands on it, I think we shall see more posts on such, although that may just be speculation

The new animations look pretty good, like the brute pulling the marines arms off, although it was a bit too 'clean' and the elite dual-wielding swords was also pretty cool... but i'm not a fan of the brutes new appearance. =/

I feel the same way...the new brutes look cool but i hope they have some of the old brutes in their original armour like the ones in h2...
notice how alot of brutes had green blood?
also looks like the drones are back again but i think the grunts might end up splitting as they are after all cannon fodder and only went with the elites because they were lower than the elites as long as somthing bigger than it self gives a grunt and order it wont think twice about obeying that order...
well at least the buble shield isnt a new grenade...
