Barely into pre-production, movie loses financial backing
According to Variety , pricing disagreements pushed both Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox out of their co-financing agreement with Microsoft. The halo film's budget was rumored to top off at nearly $200 Million, though the filmmakers insist that the highest quoted budget was under $130 Million.
The Lord of the Rings filmaker Peter Jackson, attached as an executive producer, later issued a statement confirming that the Halo film is essentially on hold. "We deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement," The release reads. "At this time, we have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe."
But Jackson's announcement ends on a positive note: "While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait."

That sucks.. but I'll wait

No doubt they will get funding one way or another.. even if Peter Jackson has to pull it out of his own ass.

GamePro sucks t3h b1g 0n3!!!111!11oneoneelveen!!111! anyways, so i'm not surprised that they're ONLY two months behind... but still. I am not too sure about the movie to begin with, because it is being shot with real people, like the DOOM movie. We all know how bad the DOOM movie was. I would MUCH rather have the people that made the MNF ad make the movie completely in CG, it would be eleventy million times better that way.

Although the Doom movie was off storyline, basically, it was a pretty good movie.
I would be pissed if they made it all CGI, it would be like Finding Nemo on steriods. I hate watching fake acting, it is horrible and fails.
Something that I don't get is that the guy; who made Alone in the Dark and is making a newer movie about a game, didn't get any setbacks and he sucks major ass at making movies, yet something as 1337 as Halo is being made into a movie and isn't doing too well right now.

We still know next to nothing about it. Is it going to be CG or live-action? Will it cover the plots of just the first game, the first book, or the plot for the whole franchise? Now they're delaying. This is off to a rocky start.

From what they've said in the updates, it sounds like it would have been mostly live action with some assets like the flood being in CG. I couldn't argue with that...
On a side note, I thought I was reading a bumped topic for the first few posts... hehe.

I dunno, theres some pretty advanced ways of using animatronics and such. I'm just not a fan of CG in movies, I mean, the guy they got for the job is really good at it, but meh.

Yeah, that's Uwe Boll. He's terrible. He's the like the new Ed Wood.
