I'm not the god of reviewing, but hey. If you want a personal opinion, then this is the place(or rather, topic) for you.
"Woe is incubus?" you might think.
It can't be really categorized since Incubus always changes its sound. But rock/altern comes pretty close.
"Wut haev they done?"
Well, they only made like 6 albums over a timespan of 11 years, but that's probably nothing worth mentioning.

In all seriousness, Incubus has created about 6 albums like I just mentioned and when you all hear them in chronologic order, you can definately hear/feel the difference.
It all begins with Fungus Amongus, an album that not many people know/knew about in the first place.
This is probably the hardest album of all, but not the worst. It definately sounds unique.

After Fungus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is released in 1997. This album was more well-recieved than Fungus and it became a hit.
Songs like "Redefine", "New Skin", "A Certain Shade Of Green" and "Calgone" really stood out and made this album amazing. The other songs were great too, but these songs really did it.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. passed over and Make Yourself(2001), probably the best recieved album was released. With the hit "Drive", this album was sold out short after release.
With good reason too, the album sounded really well, but.. it lost it's metal/hard rock sound, where people began to complain.
Not for a good reason too, because it still sounds amazing.

Then came Morning View, in 2003. The more quiet album of the group, but still sounding amazing. Nothing much to say about this, except for "Circles", probably the rockiest sounding song on this album.

A Crow Left Of The Murder was the most experimental album up to date, released in 2004. With this album, they proved that they have settled themselve to release more experimental material and it mostly has been recieved very well.

Well, onto the track listing.

1. Quicksand [2:14]
2. A Kiss To Send Us Off [4:16]
3. Dig [4:17]
4. Anna Molly [3:46]
5. Love Hurts [3:57]
6. Light Grenades [2:20]
7. Earth To Bella Pt.1 [2:28]
8. Oil And Water [3:49]
9. Diamonds And Coal [3:46]
10. Rogues [3:56]
11. Paper Shoes [4:17]
12. Pendulous Threads [5:35]
13. Earth To Bella Pt.2 [2:58]

Total time: 47 minutes, 39 seconds

Makes for a short but enjoyable album.
Onto the most fun part, the ratings!

1. Quicksand [2:14]

An enjoyable opener, probably the most spacy number on the whole album. Nice beat and the piano sounds really.. heavenly, also.
I think that's the description what fits in the most, in my opinion.

Rating: 7/10

2. A Kiss To Send Us Off [4:16]

This song makes me think of the old Incubus, where they still screamed in the choruses. Maybe it's just because they wanted us to think they've turned back into retro Incubus.
But it's just a hoax. Sorry!
Nice song though, it starts really soft but then blasts into the hard riffs of Mike's guitar play.

8,2/10

3. Dig [4:17]

Wow, probably the best song on the album in my opinion. Nice lyrics, melody and beat. I really don't have much to say except that this song really overthrew me.

9,8/10

4. Anna Molly [3:46]

The first single of the album. Sounds nice, but it's not particulary my style.
Though I can dig the song now, it still isn't my style, but still it sounds good..
Still following me?

8,7/10

5. Love Hurts [3:57]

Something more along the emo runway, although it isn't really emo at the same time. It's just about how love can hurt, but sometimes it's a good hurt. Not really emo, but more talking about the good and bad aspects of love. Nice tune, really simplistic.

7,9/10

6. Light Grenades [2:20]

Why does this song have to be so short? The song(where the album is named after) is the fastest paced song of the album and it sounds really amazing. Chaotic and screamy and nice guitar riffs.

9,5/10

7. Earth To Bella Pt.1 [2:28]

Didn't do it for me in the beginning but I digged it later on, when I listened to it alot. You might think it's just a mellow song but your thoughts will be changed when it bursts into chaos and then changes back to mellow.

7,3/10

8. Oil And Water [3:49]

Some people call this a filler, but I still don't know why. The lyrics are cool and the melody sounds nice.. How can you ever call this a filler? Come on people.

8,4/10

9. Diamonds And Coal [3:46]

Something nobody has ever heard of Incubus and it sounds really sweet. Although when repeated it can sound boring, but overall it sounds really nice.

8,8/10

10. Rogues [3:56]

Mike really overthrew himself with this song, where the intro sounds really cute, it suddenly bursts into another song of chaos thanks to his guitar play.

9,3/10

11. Paper Shoes [4:17]

This song is really mellow, so no sudden outbursts here. The acoustic guitar fits in really nicely. Although this isn't one of my favourites, the melody is really, really catchy.

9/10

12. Pendulous Threads [5:35]

Probably one of my favourites. The chaotic riff fading in in the beginning is something new again, but don't be surprised, it suddenly bursts into.. the most mellow part of the whole song. After that, it bursts into the chaotic part again and that's how the whole song is gonna stay.

9,6/10

13. Earth To Bella Pt.2 [2:58]

A great ender, it sounds like it's predecessor too(hey, who would've guessed). It just suddenly stops with all melodic sounds and background/environmental sounds and the only thing that's left is the drums. Really nice.

8,6/10

As you can see, the ratings are really short and contain less information than you might expect.
I only wanted to put the ratings, but I should've put a reason in it. So I've put these short reasons in, kind of as a "filler".

This was the end of my review, the end result will still come(as all my calculators suddenly disappeared, I need to add it another time).. I hope you enjoyed my first review EVAR.

I'm not a fan of Incubus, but I guess I could try listening to it.
