The game starts out with the standard tutorial-style level where you play Crypto, the alien who is given tasks to accomplish. In order to sneak around undetected, Crypto can "body snatch" unsuspecting hippies for limited amounts of time. While you are in this mode, you can run around without being shot at by the police or KGB agents. Besides, there's something funny about watching a hippie-chick speaking with a Jack Nicholson accent. Really.

The gameplay is in the style of GTA, where you get various "quests" from non player characters in an open world game. It's unlike GTA (and more like a traditional RPG) in that you carry on conversations by selecting different questions and topics. Sometimes this can border on tedious, depending on the writing and humor, but fortunately you can skip past most of it and get right to the destruction if you want to. The quests can chain together, like your standard RPG, where to fulfill one quest you often have to take care of something to please that character.

There are many quests (reportedly 30 to 40 of them), but you also spend time performing mini-tasks to gain power ups and bases for your saucer. For example, the game has several tiki-god statues (I can't remember what they are called off the top of my head), but if you fulfill their request, you will get a new saucer base. In one instance, the statue indirectly asks you to clean up all the protest signs that hippies have littered his area with. Spend a couple of minutes levitating the signs away and the tiki guy gives you a new landing base. This is typical of the humor in the game. Some of it is a little bit not-funny, but for the most part it is pretty good compared to some of the other games I've played. What I liked most about it was blowing stuff up, and I think a lot of people would agree that is a lot of fun.
Pros:
-humor
-blowing stuff up is fun
-effects are excellent considering aging hardware
-character models are decent for an open-world game
Cons:
-voice acting not the best I've heard
-level designs are nothing exceptional
-dialogue, when it isn't funny, can be very tedious
