I went and got a 360 today with my hard saved up money, I got premium.
I turn it on, I try to sign up for live, but I have to download the fall update. Then BAMMMM!!!! System restarts and BOOOOMMM!! Error71
Called M$, their advice was:
"Return the system to the store and get a different one, then you should be fine. Tell them not to resell it."

Wow, they can't even fix what they killed. Thanks M$, now I have to drive all the way to gamestop and pray to god that I don't get another one with those gay drives in it.

that's microsoft for you, they scam you by making their software and hardware defective and make you pay to upgrade it.

... He doesn't have to pay for it if it was defective when he bought it...

So ... did you get a new one? Did the new one work? If it was just an xbox live problem check that your firewall is set to "low" or "off"

xbox scene was announcing (of course it was totally unofficial) that if you buy a 360 don't connect to live for a few days till they figure that out. But that really sucks, and is something that MS should have not let happen.

Ok, so? Go trade it in for a new one.

I got a minor complaint about the update, actually two.

1080p is only widescreen: WTF!?

Now the ring of light does the start up animation, then the animation on the screen shows up and the sound plays.

MS was really sloppy with this update.

Another 2 things I cant stand about M$,

GamerPictures:

1. Why the hell can't you create your own gamerpicture from a digital camera
2. If you don't have a digital camera, then you should at least be able to upload a 64x64 res. image in "edit your gamercard" on the xbox website

I don't know if it's just me, but M$ tend to do things like this alot

The fact that [some] 13 year olds' parents don't care about what they do on the internet and the fact that most 13 year olds have just gotten into puberty and are immature would lead me to the conclusion that the reason why MS doesn't let you import your own stuff is simply because of the fact that inapropriate pictures would start showing up on gamercards everywhere.

I don't think there's a problem with lack of customization concerning gamer icons.

71 mite have been referbished,systems ms referbished with new optical drive have gotn the same. E66 have also been seen on down graded firmware on drives chek xbox scene

Right and age has everything to do with maturity

their fall update has made mine screw up too. It freezes a ton more after the update (i have had it since launch) and just after the update it when it starts messing up

Return it under warranty. =x
