this is a tutorial i wrote on bypassing a school's web censorship using techniques me and my friend thought up, methods we've read about, and user-submit methods. each technique is tested in my school, as well as other user's schools. it's pretty long, but well worth the read. i'm posting this link here to get more traffic going towards it, seeing as how alot more people go to the cafe than the tutorials forum. i'm hoping you guys will give feedback, test the methods, and submit techniques of your own so i can get this tutorial to cover as much as possible so it can be useful to as many people as possible.

Proxy almost always works. Also, don't really worry bout them getting too mad about it (depending on what you're getting to). I worked as a techie at my HS last summer and the guys were freaking awsome. They didn't care that I set up proxies and such (they didn't even know that by setting up a proxy you could get around the filter).

Well, proxies work until they block those, which my school has started to do for a while now. You find a proxy, and about a week later, and the administration finds out about it and blocks it.

Most all of the proxies have been blocked by our School.

I'm in the process of getting a proxy going on my server that will be very hard to block, I will have to change some things a bunch of times when its blocked but I can do it.

Cool, I'll have to save a shortcut to that on My Documents at school once you get that up. Then I can easily just disguise it as something else.

yeah. i'm trying to get my own webserver setup, i should really re-do it though. after it's running ok, mind if you share the proxy setup info jks?

and also, because you're pretty much always using a proxy of some sort to bypass a school webfilter, it cuts stuff down to pretty much using a webproxy, or using a browser set to connect to a proxy (custom-configured portable firefox, or Torpark).

torpark and any proxy that your school hasn't blocked should work. just be careful with your login info. if it looks like a shady proxy, they may have username/pass sniffers running on it, so be careful. however, i trust torpark personally. that's why i use it so much.

also, if anyone has questions pertaining to webfilter bypassing, feel free to ask.

very good proxies? generally the newer ones are less popular, so less traffic, and the chance that they aren't blocked yet. just try a few out. although i really have to hand it to torpark for being easy to use and reliable.
