Story: Holocaust

I needed to write a 2-3 page essay for English about something I once thought was true, but now know is not true. For example, the tooth fairy. I used to think that everybody was the same religion. And that's what I decided to write about. I'd appreciate any comments.

[quote]Growing up as a young child, I did not know much about religion. I always believed in God, but I never thought about it too much. My family observed Hanukkah, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Shabbat, and all the other Jewish holidays. Only when I was about eight years old did it occur to me that everyone had different religious beliefs.

It was December; everyone was excited about school break, winter vacation, the New Year, and of course, the winter holidays. I remember browsing the mall in Simsbury, Connecticut, looking in kid

You're a good wirter, despite my 2 seconds attention span I had an easy time reading that. And Hitler wasn't Catholic, He was a humanist, I believe he considered himself god.

Good job. Wish I could write that. Also, Hitler was Christian, I know that for a fact, but whether he was Catholic, or not, I can not say. Of course, I'm Christian, and it's hard to believe I share my religion with someone that twisted.

Nice essay.

A friend of my family was in Auschwitz and they did medical experiments on her, it's a miracle she survived, really. My paternal grandfather was also Jewish, and fought at Normandy.

Hitler killed jewish people not because of the religion,he killed them cause many jewish people were in his eyes parasites infecting countries with commnunism.Of course neither of that is true.

Hitler couldn't have been a Christian. Being a Christain means that you believe that Jesus the Christ has died for your sins. Jesus was Jewish, so, in conclution hitler was not a Christian.

Christianity is based off of Judiasm, but many Christians believe that the Jewish religion is dead and should be scrapped because Jesus the Messiah has returned. Hitler jsut needed someone to blame for Germany's problems, and the Jews were an obvious choice. Also, he wasn't jsut prejudice against the Jews, but also blacks and gays.

That's true. But Jews don't believe that Jesus is the messiah, nor do they believe that the messiah has actually come yet.

Sorry for the bump, but nice essay and good grammar. I just have a few things.

Well, the world did not know the horrors of the camps until the closing days of the war, after the U.S. joined.

Seriously, nobody will ever know what he was. Hard to say he was chrisitian because he ordered his SS to destroy every cross/religious figure whenever they invaded a town.

On a side note, the holocaust was a terrible tragedy and its hard to believe that people were capable of such acts, but how come the holocaust is discussed in school when so many other acts have occured and never discussed? Roughly 11 million people were killed throughout the communist revolution/USSR regime. Communist China has nearly killed 15 million people in its history. President Truham dropped 2 nuclear weapons on Japan killing many innocent civilians. Who knows how many have died from the numerous wars throughout the middle east. 500,000 Nigerians died throughout France's control over the region. Many African countries have seen wars for more than 20 years with unrecorded deaths and casualties. I have no problem with learning the holocaust, but it bugs me to note that more people in America know how many jews died during WWII than how many American soldiers were killed.

No war has ever increased the death rate of the human race...

it's just that hitler has better media coverage. besides, we were engaged in WWII, and not any of the other stuff going on if africa or russia or china.
