Haha, hes the president of Venezuela
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Ch%C3%A1vez

Heres the most recent article on how crazy he is.

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/746636.html

Chavez believes the US is going to invade them and joined the UN to try to get sanctions again the US. He believes that the coup de at a few years ago was from the US, which basically the US could really care less about what goes on in Venezuela. Chavez has been making oil deals and other economic deals with every enemy of the US. (Iran, Syria, etc.) He has been buying hundreds of weapons and military vehicles from Russia to get ready for the US invasion. Just recently he purchased an defense system so when the US invades the country will be prepared. I believe last year, he said he had evidence that American troops were "moving into position" around his country, and "an attack on Venezuela would be the end of America". He even convinced Cuba that America has interests in their land as well. So, just recently Cuba has stepped up their defenses in preparation of an American assault. They believe we will attack since Castro is absent and we could "take advantage" of the change in government at the moment.
Im trying to find the news articles I have read in the past so that everyone will believe me, but no luck so far.

sounds like he's thinks venezuela is more than it's cracked up to be. as a sweeping overgeneralizing statement, it's just a hot steamy rain forest.

I'm glad you're going the unbiased route on this poll.
"Is Hugo Chaves insane?... Hugo Chavez is crazy!"

I would put more stock into his claims of a US backed coup seeing as the US has on many occasions supported coups on socialist leaders in Latin America and installed our own fascist replacements. Our good 'ol containment doctrine during the Cold War.
I'm pretty sure it was Hugo Chavez who made one of the coolest offers ever (it might have been someone else, correct me if I'm wrong). Chavez (the President of a third world country) offered to supply oil to several American states, which were running low (the first of the first world countries). Talk about an embarrassment for the Bush administration.

EDIT: Oh, and that link to how 'crazy' he is. Really reliable, an Israeli news site, they don't have an agenda to push or anything.

I honestly dont know either. He has been effectively bad mouthing America for years, its hard in my opinion to believe he would offer help. Though, I honestly dont know....I will research this a little bit. Different sources tell me that 11-15% of our crude oil comes from him. I knew we did get some from him because for the longest time Venezuela was dependent on the US, as the US was basically their only customer.

Heres another article on his sanity
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 00840.html

In my opinion, Chavez basically runs around bad mouthing everyone he can and has no evidence to support him. I laughed when asked if he had proof if the US was going to invade him, and he started calling America names. He truly believes the US is going to invade him, which is hilarious. He has been fueling terrorism and indirectly is a threat to the US. He would bunk with Osama if he could.
