North Korea...

I'm sure there are stories on CNN, but this is how it went down...

3 Missiles were fired... 2 of which were unguided scud-type missiles that, one of which crashed over the sea of japan.

1 was the long range one (taeopadong 2?...) missile... but that failed shortly after launch.

What do you thinks gonna happen? I think the UN is going to place sanctions on North Korea... and if it gets too tense, maybe take out their storage facilities or wherever they have other missiles with some of our own cruise missiles.

a war in north korea would be meaningless unless they actualy fired a missle containing a warhead at a populated area. in that case nuke the mother f***ers but for now let them play with their model rockets. while we sit on 5000 tons of guided nuclear warheads.

anyway unless they pose a direct threat...i don't care. leave em alone

this is Just hitting the news? When I was in Japan back in '98, North Korea shot a two stage rocket over japan, landing on both sides of it. I think its about time that We charge across the 38th and just cream them. and Fors Kin Jon Ill to go to Supercuts and fix that god awful hairdo.

There's quite a few Naval ships with antimissile stuff around North Korea. If they were to launch something real, it wouldn't get anywhere, I'd assume.

Bombing North Korea is just a horrible idea. I think we should be careful and not put North Korea's neighbors in danger, or for that matter North Korean civillians. I couldn't ever support dropping nukes on anyone, even if it was in retaliation.

I think it's highly likely someone will take out the taeopadong(s?) and whatever North Korea does after that beats me.

If someone does have to go in and get rid of Kim Jong Il, I honestly don't think it should be the US. Sure, they have the best equipment, but compared to other countries, their armed forces aren't that brilliantly trained or disciplined. Australian SAS FTW.

The US and Japan are the ones who have the biggest beef with NK, and if the US doesn't do it somehow I doubt Japan would be up for it too. But you never know. =/

i agree that the us shouldnt do it, we're alreayd involved with iraq and most people dont want us there. i doubt the public would support going into another war so soon.

Pretty sure that Americans didn't support the Iraq war either though.

Well Darco, we are in a World War, meaning we are in lots of countries. I think North Korea just feels left out in this whole thing. (lawl kai?)

But seriously, I don't think we need to fight every war for every country. I'm neutral on the Iraq war, because it's getting a little better for the civilians there as time goes by, but no war is good, only the cause.

Indeed, this is basically a publicity stunt for North Korea to let the world know they are still there and they still have nukes. They have had long range missiles for quite some time, they were just never put into use/implemented.
Recently the US just implemented a missile defense grid within US borders. No missile will hit the US without us knowing about it in advance. So, basically we can shoot down any missile being fired at us. :)

I'm thinking they will start putting up those new 747's equipped with the laser anti-missle system around north korea. Those things can shoot down any missle visible for some crazy amount of range because it's using super charged lasers.

They just launched a 7th early July 5th, fell apart and broke about 40 miles after the launch lol.

I heard they launched five or six missiles. All but one were short/medium range missiles, and they were all launched into the ocean. The last missile was long-range with possibilities of going as far as to Alaska, but it failed just seconds into the launch sequence.

We had two anti ICBM stations set up to counter any attack at the time... 11 missiles in alaska and two in southern california. Great, they have the missile and warhead... but now they have to master the technology of getting it to hit somewhere within a few miles... I'm sorry to say, but unless they get some guidance technology from China, they're missiles can't do shit to us. It'll take 10 years for them to develop systems sophisticated enough to even harm alaska. (poor mac_user :p )

Our anti missile defenses arent sure shot either... they have a mixed record of success. We're helping Japan set up a similiar system in their northern region to protect them from any NK threat... besides, I think the US should let the Asians handle this... China, Japan, and Russia really need to start pressuring NK into stopping this idiocy. I think it was more a cry for attention than anything... the fact that the TII missile failed is quite an embarrasment though.

Not really, while they can shoot down TBM's and other short/medium range missiles, it can't do much for ICBM's and long range missiles of the type. Although most definitely it could take down any missile North Korea has (assuming they don't have ICBM's, which they almost definitely don't have). Not to mention they're quite expensive and have never been tested in flight.

Anybody watch that show Futureweapons on the Discovery Channel? It's incredible to see some of the modern weapons that are being used around the world. And yes, it shows many U.S. weapons that are being used to shoot missiles down almost 100% of the time.

yeah the knew barret. that things awesome. it can shoot 10 rounds in under 10 seconds semit auto. and kills easliy from a mile away.

yeah and latly Chinas been starting to get agitated with NK and have been talking with the us.
