pretty cool, but what a waste of coke. all that diet soda could've fed a third-world country.
and all it is is basically the sugar in the mentos reacting with an acid (i forget which one, the can of coke i have nearby says phosphoric acid) to make gas. not 100% sure if it's the acid or not, but put the contents of a pixie stick into a coke and you'll see what i mean.

i'd rather drink the soda than waste it, besides, there's more fun to be had with explosives than soda.

ive done this b4 for a chemistry project (was really easy). its actually the gases that do this. mentos are not needed, but their perfect shape help make it shoot out better. when you drop a mentos into the liquid, it disturbs the surface tension. this creates bubbles (the bubbles are INSIDE the liquid), which settle on the tiny holes on the bottom of the mentos. the mentos gather these bubbles intil it cannot gather any more, and then they all shoot straight up. this reaction occurs in milliseconds. as the mentos sinks to the bottom, it draws out the bubbles, and repeats the process. the mentos takes out nearly all of the bubbles from the drink. try this, and then taste it afterwards. its incredibly flat.
btw, use a 2 liter. cans do work, but its so small. very unimpressive.

Yeah I've done this before, just not with that many. Its pretty neat. Then I found out that "The Works" + Tin Foil + 2 Liter Bottle = Loud noise and melting of the bottle. Dangerous but fun..

anarchist's cookbook blows, half the stuff it tells you to do will get you injured or killed in the process. if you want knowledge in the genre of the anarchist's cookbook, but much more detailed, and safer, ask me.
