Ever been playin a game online, join a game, start the game and get goin? Then your playing along, doing great, or mediocer, when some kid comes in and starts screamin,"You guys are all nubs. Get of my team you dirty nubs!!!". You just thought he was stupid, insulting and was afriad to say noob, right? That is what I thought at first. Then one day I was bored and on my computer. Since dictionary.com was open, I searched "nub". Guess what I found. A quote from the dictionary:
3: the choicest or most essential or most vital part of some idea or experience
What do you know, its a compliment. Either that or they are calling you a stub of something. So nextime when your playing and someone calls you a nub, thank them, because they are the noob.

that's what the dictionary says, but the actual internet slang meaning isn't a compilment. here, see for yourself

nub is like a core of something or the center or at least that what i learned at school

the dictionary meaning and the modern internet slang meaning are polar opposites.

if your on forums or in a game and get called a nub, it's bad, check the wikipedia link i posted.

Just act like they meant the dictionary definition. It'll piss them off. It's what we're going for, after all.

That's like "moron".Technically, it means having the intelligence of a twelve-year old, so if you call someone younger than that a moron, it could be a compliment. But of course it isn't.

I do it on XBL sometimes, only when the winning team are assholes. I usually go in the post game carnage menu thing (when my team is the loosing team, and the winning team are assholes):

"You guys suck! You got Own3d SO HARD! Just take out Halo 2 and smash it with a rock because you SUCK!"

It usually leaves the winning team confused.... Try it sometimes, its awsome.
