Desktops are more powerful for a cheaper price, however you can't tote that around quite as easy lol. So if you don't intend on going anywhere to often then I suggest getting a desktop.

On ebay or custom building one id say that you can get a decent one for about $500 or a bit lower.

Genrally, labtops are more expensive than desktops because they are harder to make, there parts are more expensive, and making the batteries, geeze. Don't pick alienware labtops even though they are really good (the best to be precice.)

F-f-f-funny! But serously, do you care what kind of laptop you get? Do you want it to be good and cheap? Or cheap cheap? EDIT: I don't think even the bare-bones laptops are under $145.

You could probably make your own for cheap, but I don't think any labtop is $145......

My desktop was 2k

, and I'm possitive that unless you just want the keyboard, you wont get a laptop for less than 500 if you want lowest everything almost.
