Ok, this has to be one of the most serious topics in the Cafe :P
So on the News for the past week the main thing that has been brought up has been the massive riots in Sydney, Australia.
The News station said that this ordeal has been broadcasted over the world so I was just wondering if others here at HaloMods have watched the News and if you have an opinion to it/what you think about it.
Rossmum, you live in Sydney, have you seen any of it or anything like that?

If you have not heard about it then read this link.
Please read that out thoroughly before posting your opinion.

And also, keep this civilised, or deletage shall happen.

My opinion: I think it's pretty sad/low that the Middle Eastern gang beat up a couple of people who are volunteering to protect and save people's life's if they need it at the beach but at the same time I do not like how us Aussie's fought back in massive drunken/racist riots.
Worst of it all is it's only gunna escalate and if the Police do not crack down (not like they can when there's so little of 'em) then people are going to get severly hurt and maybe even die.

Opinuate! Now!

Well I havent seen anything major on Canadian news coverage. It was a 30 second sound bite on CNN this morning.

However..... It has been covered in detail on the BBC world service,
which unfortunately goes out live to 200 countries.

At least they dont just keep playing the same 30 second fight over and
over like CNN, but they are asking some serious questions about
underlying racial / religous tensions in Australian society...

sadly, LA's Morning news is more interested in Katie Holmes and Tom Cruises kid more than international affairs. FOX's LA news sucks. Highly undependable and does more Celeb stuff than news. Other stations are more worried about The War and the Execution of Stanley"Tookie"Williams(they think he's gonna get pardoned from 4 different murders and theft because hes a "Changed Man"

Yes well that's completely irrelavent to what I asked, lol :P.

So I'm assuming many people haven't really seen it on the News apart for Decoy.
Not to worry then, just wondering really.

mainstream U.S. news on overseas items, tends to lag behind the BBC by 3 or 4 days.....as a matter of fact I just saw a full news item (with studio "experts") on CNN live regarding the rioting.

I finally saw the rioting on the news. it was just one of those things that was mentioned with a 6 second video clip. Oh, btw Tookie was executed.
