New Orleans is a mess!

it has been a week since I was able to come back home since Katrina hit the gulf coast, many guys I still chat with and communication is pretty bad...to prove it I had to sneak on this 48.8 dial up modem and wanted to let those people I still chat with know I am still ok.
The flight to New Orleans sucked ( I will now be calling California my home, that is where I evacuated to after the said nobody is getting in for a month.) I brought my little digital camera with me and I will post pics when I get back to Cali. It is amazing the damage, not far (about 15 minutes from my old home) it looks like a nuclear bomb went off. Some areas have had 4ft. of flooding....on the second floor! the elite homes that were one millions now look like a thrid world country. I lived in an apartment on second floor and still got damage. the 3rd floor apartment lost its roof and so it flooded their place which collapsed my ceiling. like I said, I'll post pics in a few weeks. I must go back home to salvage more stuff and trash stuff.
Later guys.

Yeah. We've already lost one of our skinners, we don't need to lose two...
Shame about your house. I don't know what I'd do if that happened to me.
*is glad he lives in Sydney where the most he has to worry about is bushfires*

two days in a row i could get on the net! WAHOO! anywho, I think New Orleans will become a very very expensive place to live soon. "But it just had its ass kicked quag!" Yes, it did, BUT! The demand for non-damaged homes are very very very high, rents will double and housenotes are going up fast. if you had 10-12 inches of water in your house you are considered in GREAT shape. "How can people afford such homes???" Well if anyone wants to make awsome money then come down here, I kid you not....our garbage men are now making $26 an hour here, garbage truck drivers $32, roofers....don't get me started. oh and that does not count overtime which you will get. many local software engineers and mechanics have quit their jobs to go cut trees, collect garbage or other restoration services.
I will post the pics, but till I drive back to California no way will I upload pics via dial-up. Resturants are another scarce thing, they close at 6pm usually and the local Waffle House or Denny's are now packed and look like four star resturants.
The smell is kinda bad, smells like dead meat or mildew depending where you are. No the meat is not from the dead bodies, I refuse to go downtown by the Superdome. To depressing and plus, the smells. It is from rotten foods. I would estimate 90% of all affected homes threw out the refrigerators, not from damage, but the smells are stuck inside them. My apartment...errr, old apartment will probably be 100% in 1-2 more months, they are moving super fast.
Peace.
