ways to bypass filters (and other good know-how) UPDATED!**
ok, i read the filter bypassing thread below, but it's dead and seems to have gone on too long to be helpful, so i'll list the ways i know how to get past filters here:
- Filter methods
- DNS blocking
- intro
- how to bypass
- how to get to the command prompt
- How to get to the command prompt
- other ways to get where you want *
- translator sites *
- local site copies *

--DNS blocking--
-intro-
The way the internet works is, yuo're computer connects to one of a few different servers that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has, then you're fed through to the internet. You're web browser "browses" the internet by taking you to a web site on the server you designate, now when the internet was young, there were less than 20 "web sites", so anyone browsing it would just type in an IP adress of a server, and be taken to it. but now with over a hundred thousand (and explosively growing) web sites, it's just a bit more difficult to remember dotted quad ip adresses (127.83.342.80) so we use DNS servers and URL adresses.
the DNS server takes what you type into you're web browser (www.google.com) and matches it to an IP adress in a large list it has, when it finds a match, it replaces the "www.google.com" on the header of your information packets to the correct IP adress so they go to the right place, and get the right information sent back to you.
Now, because the DNS server will recognize both "www.ebaumsworld.com" and "4.78.57.70" as the same thing, typing either of those into the URL bar of your web browser will get the same site. Now, school DNS blockers use a "blacklist" of sites to check with every single info. packet sent to and from the school. If the header of an info. packet contains something that matches the list, then the info. packet is destroyed en-route. Here's how you save your precious info. packet's life (sometimes) and get to nearly whatever site u want...
-how to bypass-
open up your web browser and type in the Ip adress of the site u want to go to (u should probably get this while you're at home, but if you REALLY need the IP adress at school, scrol down a bit to the "how to get to the command prompt" section). Then, thanks to a deficiency on the school's blacklist and the magic of DNS servers, you should get to your site without a hitch.
Now, when i go to ebaumsworld.com (or want to) i type in "4.78.57.70/index2.shtml". Why the /index2.shtml you ask? well, part of it has to do with a sort of "undoing" that ebaumsworld.com does when you use the link on the homepage to get to the index, so i just put it there for it by adding the "/index2.shtml" on the end of "4.78.57.70"
as a side note to help you understand what i did, just think of you accessing the web site on your end ("4.78.57.70" or, "www.ebaumsworld.com") and then what it looks like on the server's end (probably something like "C:\"). So, basically, "www.ebaumsworld.com/index2.shtml" is what you see, but the server sees "C:\index2.shtml" (a simple file right on the hard drive, not in any folders) This is basically to help you see how it works by comparing what you see when you're browsing the web to what you see when you look at your own hard drive.
-How to get to the command prompt-
Need that IP adress at school? well, any smart IT technician will block the command prompt from students so there won't be any disk formatting (DO NOT DO IT AT SCHOOL EVER) otherwise, get it through the start menu (pretty simple stuff, start>programs>accessories>command prompt)
If it's blocked (it usually would be) you can get a different one from inside the hard drive, here's how
go to the hard drive ( "C:\" ) then go to the "WINDOWS" folder (that should be "C:\WINDOWS\") and inside that, the valuable file "command.com" (now the file path should look like "C:\WINDOWS\command.com") open that, and you should get an unblocked command prompt (how useful, hehehe...)

Another way to get past school filters(mine at least) is to go to http://www.proxify.com and you can get to all the blocked sites you want
--the ping command--
make sure you type in
it will send a pinging request to the site/ip adress designated (by putting a space after the "ping")
this is used to test internet connection and such, but using it can get you the web site's ip adress (in the brackets, "[" and "]")
if you have problems, tell me EXACTLY what you typed in, and the whole error message (use print screen, i don't beleive highlighting text works in the command prompt)
yeah, for ebaumsworld, when i type in 4.78.57.70, it takes me to the welcome page, but click the link and BOOM! blocked, how do i get past this you say? well, i just type in
4.78.57.70/index2.shtml
you'll notice that i added /index2.shtml on there, that's the name of the actual webpage you get the videos and pics off of, this works because of FQDN and server things, so i'll give u the short version here:
when you visit a web-page, you usually type in "www.halomods.com", now, because i'm sparing actually telling you what the url is made of, i'll just say that:
you view the server as "www.domain_name.com", but the server administrator/person physically next to it sees it as "C:" (yes, just like your personal pc)
so, let's look at "/index2.shtml" this is a file (.shtml document on the server's C: drive, not in a folder, like C:\index2.shtml as opposed to C:\web_pages\index2.shtml) so, basically:
www.ebaumsworld.com/index2.shtml and
4.78.57.70/index2.shtml and
C:\index2.shtml <--(this is what it looks like from the server's perspective)
are all the same!
make sure you type in
Code: Select all
ping www.ebaumsworld.com
this is used to test internet connection and such, but using it can get you the web site's ip adress (in the brackets, "[" and "]")

haha nice work, but i found an easier way. also, my blocker, websense, blocks all ips
organized list of working proxies w/ good directions
My proxy site
WEBSENSE:
freshman year, i started working on proxies. i had a crappy webblocker, 4got its name. now i have websense. websense is very good, but me (being the genius i am lmao) made a site that organizes WORKING proxies in a good order.
websense blocks proxied.org or whatever the site was btw
FORTRES:
fortres is very easy to 'break' as i call it. ctrl+alt+delete and then go to "Explorer.exe". its almost always capital first, but sometimes theyre sneakier. once explorer.exe closes, go to 'New Task' and run explorer.exe. fortres is now gone and you can browse anywhere on the computer

hmm, you school must have a bit more than a simple DNS blocker running to block other ip's and etc. maybe some sort of port system thingy on each pc...

rain hard candys down on ikildsanta for this soon-to-be-good site!
(btw, i just get a "panic button" message, it talks about a proxy list, then a problem, what's up with it? what's the panic button? where's the proxy list?)
well, that's a first...Spitfire wrote:ALL HAIL [cc]z@nd! !!!!!
