Yeah, gas is really getting up there... I guess there are upsides to not being able to drive yet.

ok, someone started this movement, and i heard it on my myspace at myspace.com, and what we are supposed to do is not buy gas on september 1,2,3,4,5 or something, i heard its really gonna hurt the gas station if a lot of people do this and then they will HAVE to lower gas prices!

Yeah, it was TODAY that no one should buy gas on lol, although that plan would NEVER work. God, Americans never cease their stupidity. It isn't ONLY your cars that use gas. Your house uses gas. Buses use gas. Airplanes. Cabins in the netherlands far away from civilization must use gas. This plan wouldn't ever work, simply because in this day and age there is a CONSTANT demand for gas. And you wonder why the prices go up? Thats how you run a business! What are you gonna do about it? Whine? Still buy it though? Ohhhh...

they can only jack the prices way up b/c they know ppl dont have an option wether they want it or not

well the higest i have seen around is about 7-8 bucks... snice i live in oregon and there is no sales taxes... sooo.... u get the picture

well imsure as crap glad that i dont drive yet. but it sucks for all of that do drive

I learned a couple of interesing things just last night concerning gasoline.

But before that, I think we're going to have to state which scale we're using. Obviously most of us will be talking USD/gal, but there are others (like Canada) that sell by the liter and have a different dollar value.

Now, the highest I've seen is $3.03 USD/gal. Course I live in the midwest where gas is usually cheeper, but that's still obscene by my standards.

But I saw something else at a local gas station. A fuel called E85. 85% Ethenol. It's selling here for $2.23 USD/gal. So I did a little research. Turns out that a substantial chunk of new cars sold in the US are able to run this. But most people don't even know it because they never checked and E85 vehicles run normal gas just fine.

What's more, it's VERY easy to do a conversion from standard to E85, but it'll void any factory waranty. Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) is highly corrosive, but will run like standard gasoline. All you have to do is change out your fuel line, injectors and octane sensor (if your car has fuel injection), and your gas tank. With a price difference of .7 USD/gal, that' would pay for it's self really fast. And the only performance difference is a slight drop in miles per gallon.

What's more is that the Ethanol used is grown right here in the US. IT'S NOT IMPORTED. That's right, I said GROWN. It's also renewable! No more gas crisis! That and because it's reletively new, the more complete the infrastructure, the cheeper it gets, so the price is expected to drop as production and demand increases.

Go ahead. Do a little research. Tell your parents. I, for one, think this is pretty cool.

Price here (Calgary, AB) right now is $1.15 per Litre. >_>

It's... 1.30 for us, im in Manitoba, Canada..

We are in iraq, we have oil reserves which is the reason we went there, USE IT GOD WE ACTUALLY NEED IT NOW!!

Where I live, we actualy may not even be able buy gas in 6 more days (We're running off a 10 day reserve *Day 4*). After those oil rigs broke, they affected my state dramaticly. We're going passed 3$ and Florida which is below us is even hitting 5$! I really hope they fix those rigs; we need that gas
