Thats because it was based off of the same book as 28 Days Later it was an americanised version of the story since they proclaimed that the movie 28 Days and 28 Weeks were about american involvement in other countries problems and basically bashing the USA.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:it was really similar to 28 Days Later.
The director decided to show that it wasnt our problem and spin it around to show that WE tried to do something about it. Robert Nevill (Will Smith) was Man of the Year according to Time Magazine and he was a doctor working with the military to help cure the virus (KV) since he was immune to both airborn and contact based strands. The infected unlike the mindless drones of 28 Days/Weeks were more intelligent and had basic functions such as the need to survive and feed but were faster and much more violent. The look of them also was well planed out showing how they resemble humans but at the same time have been degraded to look torn and warn out. The idea of the lack of pigmentation in the skin and the extreme uv exposure placed some great points in the movie which would set you up for some intense scenes.
The movie based on my point of view was a 10/10
Stunning preformance by Will Smith. Special Effects of NYC really grabed me and didnt dissappoint me. The plot was strong and always shocked me and my girlfriend. This movie is nothing short of a thrill ride anyone wishing for a good scare should see this movie.
(I review movies a lot but more professional than this one. I guess I have to if I want to later on in life grab you like this movie did.)
Are you sure about that..? I see no connections between the book and 28 days later at all... Especially since the book is actually called I Am Legend.KOH_Church wrote:Thats because it was based off of the same book as 28 Days Later it was an americanised version of the story since they proclaimed that the movie 28 Days and 28 Weeks were about american involvement in other countries problems and basically bashing the USA.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:it was really similar to 28 Days Later.

yeah the movie is based "mainly" off of the book I am Legend but the whole basis of this movie was to show a different version/side to the hit movies of 28 days later. in that book they do talk about an American scientist who tries to find a cure but they never mention a name being Robert Neville.
just take a look at it i went through after i saw it and there are key points that provide some insight towards this movie and its book. the original I am Legend movie also was used to help create the 28 days movie. they both feed each other and the director Francis Lawrence also said "I want to keep this movie as similar as possible to the original film...I want to put a new innovative twist on this classic...Danny Boyle's film was an inspiration to I am Legend since horror movies have always fascinated me."

Ah, I see what you're saying. Yeah, If you remember, Will Smith Captured that one chick after going into the building. The Male that showed his face in the sun was the same on that released the dogs to attack Will and Sam.Ombre wrote:That whole part confused me, did the creatures supposedly set that trap up?DoorM4n wrote:Did anyone else see the manikin move while it was by the road? He set the trap up trying to get back at Will Probably. Which, I thought, was pretty badass. You have to admit that for Zombies they were pretty damn smart.

But how the hell did that manikin move? I re watched that scene like 10 times and couldn't figure out how he moved. I strongly suggest anyone who quotes this watches the scene again. If you don't know where to watch it...message me.
My friend thinks that the girl Will Smith captures was in close relations with the main zombie. The idea of having a "leader" zombie is completely ridiculous, and so the possibility of the zombie having a close relationship is the next best thing. IMO. So, that would also contradict the theory that the zombies have lost all social/human skills.
At the beginning of that entire manikin scene, I had thought that Will Smith was testing his social patterns. Kinda like a little test to make him think like real humans are with him. I also find it a bit strange that he saw the manikin from such a long distance. It appears that the manikin was like 1/4-1/2 mile away. Thats pretty damn far.

I wouldnt say zombies and vampires are mutated humans. Zombies are dead humans that somehow still have life (dont exist). Vampires are demon humanoids that suck blood (dont exist either).gh0570fchurch wrote:Well, zombies and vampires are mutated humans, no? Anyway, i wish the movie was longer it was over too fast.

I thought I did see the manikin's head move.
Though, me and my dad thought of a few things that could of happened. One, being, he's going paranoid and forgot he set the trap or the 'lead' DarkSeaker set it.
Either one could be plausible. But, how did the manikin move? Maybe the DarkSeaker turned it into a 'puppet' and moved it's head to make Neville believe it was alive or something.
As for the movie in a whole, I thought it was a great film. kind of scary though. (I hate films where things jump out at you.

He puts it on his jacket just before setting the trap, so it cant be a scent killer or the trap wouldn't work.TomClancey wrote:It's probably some kind of scent killer so the 'DarkSeakers' don't know he lives there.iGeo wrote:Does anybody know why and what he sprays on the floor outside his house before going to sleep each night??
Vinegar, it says on the bottles, and he has a lot of it in the house. It eliminates scents, so they can't smell that he's been there. He puts it on the jacket to mask himself as he goes in, so they don't ambush him while he's setting it up.
"it cant be a scent killer or the trap wouldn't work."
The trap had nothing to do with his body scent, it was based on the blood.

I liked this movie. I heard the original author of the novel signed a release for a sequel. I really, really hope that they don't make one. It'd probably just be the same old, "OH GOD! A RESURGENCE IN THE PLAGUE!" and start things over again.
I'll try to find a link (my friend sent it to me).
Oh, and which manican scene? The one where Smith gets trapped and slung by a rope?

Zombies aren't always undead. Take Resident Evil 4 for example. They're still alive, they just have an infection that makes them extremely aggressive. There are many types of zombies (that I can think of off the top of my head): biological, chemical, and possesive (possessed by demons, like Doom). In I Am Legend, they were humans that were infected by a virus that was engineered as a cure for cancer, but instead turned everyone into vampires/zombies, whatever they were.hollow121314 wrote:I wouldnt say zombies and vampires are mutated humans.
