absolutely.. although, it was the inevitable result of us wanting more realistic games and therefore getting more realistic death scenes. some games are even built around 'death' thesedays..iGeo wrote:You both raise valid points, 30 years ago if someone would have seen someone have their guts ripped out, they would probably pass out, whereas now-a-days we'd probably say 'cool' 'thats like that game'
The only difference there is that whilst you choose to go and see that violent movie, in a game you actually have to aim and pull the trigger and kill some sort of enemy or friend. The movie is scripted and you don't choose who dies (until they make movies interactive to try and steal thunder from games which are becoming a huge industry and being regarded as interactive movies).GametagAeonFlux wrote:That's true, but the same could be said about movies...and they usually show real people dying.SHOUTrvb wrote:I will however say one thing. Too much violence in a way does desensitize the player to death in general.

Srsly though, in violent games, most of them, we are fighting aliens that want to anally probe us.
If someone, other than... well, nevermind, wanted to probe in the anus, I'd want to saw them in half too.
