well it appears to have been built with a v4 engine... so if you have an old car lying around you could make your own.

I see a 250 pound (excluding safety equipment) deathtrap with no cockpit that can attain 8,000 feet and 63 mph while sitting on 5 gallons of gas..... what's not to love.

Nice custard pool btw.

which seriously is half the fun

It represents a level of freedom.

Freedom to kill yourself? Maybe, but it's freedom none the less.

guysullivan, your inability to understand what flight can mean to some people, and the risks that some are willing to take to achieve it, is disappointing.

And it sucks, because of all the generations that I'm sure have dreamed of flying free, it seems like ours is on the very edge of such an achievement. I would be so disappointed if the technology became available at an age when I no longer cared about it, or was too old to act upon it.

So that's why I'm working on it.
A tough goal? Yes.
Near impossible? Yes.
Am I crazy for doing something like this? Yes.
Am I going to try anyway? Hell yes.

Amen brother.

Actually this Martin "jet" pack gave me some inspiration.

I mean these guys basically used a volvo engine and some carbon fiber props and got 30 min of flight out of it.

That's impressive when you consider how many others have tried.

i can understand why other people would want to fly, it just doesn't appeal to me. its sorta like i trust modern machine more than i do myself. since this is a one person thing it would scare me too much.

Go ahead anyone who wants to fly, just don't count me in :?

What if we could give you a piggy back ride? Since it's yourself you don't trust.

hey guy did you get my advice in the Halo PC section? It should help with that reticle and mod issue you are having.

And yeah we'll strap you in... it'll be a heluva ride. If we leave off the safety equipment that pack will carry up to 500 lbs or so.

I weigh 170 so that should cover us and the added straps.

No ducted fans. More like "SUCKted fans"! Get it? Get it?!

Anyway, jet packs were, are, and will be stupid and unconventional. The best bet is a sort of aircraft "suit", that is about 1/3 to 1/4 the size of a small aircraft.

Sir yes sir!!!

Anyhow, I think that if you are not concerned with regulations and safety equipment you could downsize that pack a bit and still be able to get the lift you need.
